Sitting at the edge of the water, it only touches her feet as it rolls to her. The ship is long gone, but she is now alone as Sabastian is up in the air somewhere she couldn't be sure. He swore she was safe where she sat and then took off in the same direction of the ship. Now she waits to see him return, she'll be able to see him from miles away with the size of his dragon form. Still right now it's all blue, the ocean, the sky line, with two islands so far in the distance they're slight dots. Ray's head looks left and right and she sighs laying back, her eyes widening when she see's gold eyes looking down at her. Scrambles to her feet, kicking up sand and cursing, "Damnit Sabastian, you scared me!"
"It's a shame your father would never let you train with Daemon, your senses are shit, and your reflexes even more so" he says, his gold eyes are narrowed and cold,
"You're the one that said I was completely safe here" she says crossing her arms,
Looking down at the water washing up to her feet dragging sand and shells with it. The pile of shells she mindlessly made being swept away with the waves.
"Fair, but you still should've been on guard, when we left I told you that you're being hunted"
Starring deep into his eyes, she says, "Was this some kind of demented test? Did you want me to hear and see you return, because I was watching the direction you came from. How did you end up behind me?"
"Someday I'll show you," after a brief pause, he then says turning towards the forest, "Lets get this walk home over with".
Before that moment, she had never witnessed his goldens eyes shift from a sharp slit back to his soft round eyes.
"Actually" she mumbles, "I was thinking we could fly? I wanted to go with to have an extra week with Daemon"
Sabastian stops and turns his head to look over his shoulder at her lifting both of his brows,
"What no extra week with me?" he asks,
"Daemon is my fiancé and best friend" she reminds him, as if it isn't something that he constantly reminds himself that he is nothing without her,
Ray watches as his eyes shift before turning his head back to the trees, his hair shifting as his ears pull back and her heart sinks now understanding what she just said to him. Still, she stands straighter and clears her throat, but before she can talk again he says softly,
"No, we'll walk" his voice was so soft it was nearly a whisper and he goes into the trees,
Ray bends grabbing her bag and rushes to follow him into the trees, cursing at her bare feet as the soft sand beneath shifts to dirt and sticks. Trying to pay attention to the ground to prevent stepping on anything that could hurt her feet, she doesn't notice him slipping away. Wandering through the trees it all becomes a blur of browns and greens, no trail of where he went, or where she is heading. Stopping, she spins around as she plays with her new ring nervously.
"Sabastian?" she questions softly as she swiftly continues onwards.
Hearing the sounds of the forest around her adds to the growing tension. Quickly stopping when she sees a fallen tree, she takes a seat to put on her boots. While assessing her surroundings, the skittering of a rock startles her back to her feet. Looking both ways, Ray heads towards the lighter path. Finding as she steps into the soon to be setting sun she realizes she is now on the further side of the beach.
Following her own feet tracks across the sand back to the opening in the tree, now coming to a complete circle she questions out again, "Sabastian?"
Still, he doesn't answer her but new sound followed by startling rumble under her feet makes her ears point and eyes scan everywhere; now on alert. Multiple loud snapping sounds as trees begin to fall pushing other's towards her. Sending Ray into a sprint back towards the fallen trunk, she rolls over it and lays down covering her head. Panting as she listens to them settle around her, suddenly everything seems to stop. Ray uncovers her head and peaks up looking around. Seeing the tree half way through another hanging over her.
