Shouta loaded the fat cat into the back seat as I sat in the passenger seat pondering whether to pick up the call. It felt important somehow, but it was an unsaved number, and what was stranger was that the call was coming from out of the country. It didn't have the regular +81; instead, it had +852. But before I could pick up, the call ended, leaving the car annoyingly silent.

"Hey, are you okay?" Shouta said, startling me.

"Oh, nothing. I just got a call from out of the country," I replied.

"Yes, it's probably just a scammer. Don't bother replying," Shouta said, starting to drive out of the school.

"Yeah," I sighed with a smile as I looked up at the bright blue sky. It was really summer, and the first one I actually enjoyed. I had always said that winter was my favorite season, but maybe I've changed.

"Since I helped you save face in front of your students, I'm going to go to Momo's house next week," I said.

"What? When did I agree to that?" Shouta asked.

"When you were begging me to get you that cat, you told me you owed me one," I said with a smirk, making the old man grumble an agreement. I sat peacefully until we made it back to the apartment complex, enjoying the hot sun on my skin. Entering the boiling apartment, I felt my phone vibrate again. Flipping my phone over, I saw it was the same number as before. Huffing, I contemplated whether to yell at the person behind the call and tell them to stop calling or be respectful and decline. Today was better than expected, so I'll choose the second option.

"Shouta, what are we eating tonight?" I sang as I flung my shoes off and collapsed on the couch.

"I'm not sure. I guess you're going to have what Hizashi wants," Shouta replied.

"What? Hizashi's coming?" I asked.

"Yes, he's babysitting. I need to do some things," Shouta said with a sinister tone.

"Hm, okay. You're sounding suspicious, and you better have been talking about Hitoshi," I squinted.

"What about me?" Hitoshi's voice said behind me. Spinning around, I saw Toshi with a steaming cup in his hands, the smell of coffee radiating off of it.

"Shinsou, you shouldn't be drinking coffee this late in the afternoon. It's not good for you. Rest instead," Shouta said in a stern voice.

"Whatever you say, grandpa," Toshi grunted, giving the mug to Shouta and walking off to his room.

Shouta took a sip.

"You're such a hypocrite," I said, smiling and hating that I was smiling.

"Whatever you say, YN," Shouta said, smiling down at me. I love when he says stuff like that. I don't know why, hopefully, it's from exasperation and not a brain tumor.

"Okay, well, I'm going to take a nap. Bye, Shou," I said, waving and walking into our shared bedroom.

The hours flickered by, and I found myself woken up by my phone buzzing. Opening my eyes, I found a black-haired man beside me. I laid a hand over his scruffy cheeks, petting him for no reason. I just wanted to.

Pulling myself out of the trance, I checked my phone.

It's that goddamn number again. Should I just pick up at this point?

"Turn off the thing," Shouta whispered, making me hang up out of shock. Hm, I'll pick up next time.

"Shouldn't you be out patrolling?" I asked, lying on my stomach. He huffed, picking up his phone.
