How unfortunate, how unpleasant, the cat failed to befriend the dog.
It should be as expected, the cat was unpleasant, who would want to be his friend?
One could not understand what was wrong with this cat, how come he was like this when he grew up in such a setting?
Not even the cat himself could find a reason or justification for it. How was it that he was beaten, abused and unsheltered and yet he found that he felt nothing but serenity?
The food was rotten, their arms were mean, and there was no house, why was he sweet?
Why wasn't he unhappy?
It doesn't make sense! It wasn't fair!
But even if he became unhappy, how would that make sense?
Once he made himself unhappy, what then?
It doesn't make sense. Not at all.
In the end, why would it? How should it?
Sometimes there really is just no reason.
