Magic is an interesting thing. It can be used for good or evil. It can be anything from shapeshifting to bizarre ones like turning people into rubber ducks. If mastered, it can create massive differences and can beneficial to the humankind, withering creating utopias or devastating destruction, which would be seen many times
The country Westtroplis is different to the other countries in many ways, with the main one being that people there can be born with magic, majority are born in the western coastal town of Bayside. No one knows why this is the case, but it is believed that there is some kind of magic force, which would at its maximum power in Bayside.
At the time, there was no school or place for the magic wielders to learn about their powers, so everyone had to teach themselves. Some people were lucky as they had inherited their magic from their parents, whilst overs got magic despite their parents having no magical blood in them.
There was no major conflict between magic wielders for a long time until a debate started between two people. Both believed they had the strongest magic and it eventually caused others to join in. They then started fighting each other about and from there it went downhill. Many people started having alliances with people with similar powers and the battles eventually became full scale wars. This war, now known as the Great Magic War, took place for over 50 years with it coming to an end when a massive explosion occurred in the capital city of Westound, wiping out thousands of people, including hundreds of non magic civilians. Almost every magic wielders was killed, with there being less than a hundred left at the conclusion, with this being the darkest day for Westtroplis. Westound was also never rebuilt, and a new capital city by the name of Memorilantal being built.
Following the end of this large scale war and the death of almost every magic wielder, the government was worried about the consequences of the people wielding the power having no control, especially the strongest ones, and also feared that another Great Magic War would occur. So he ordered for an Academy to be built in Bayside by the name of Bayside Academy. They flew every magic wielded to the Academy, gave them a temporary one for during the term and taught them how to use their powers, free of charge, with the only downside being that all magic wielders were forced to go.
Not all magic wielders were keen to go to the Academy, with many fearing another war, not fitting in, or the magic not turning out the way they should be. The government insisted they go, or face the consequences. This lead to another Great Magic War, with this one being between magic wielders and non magic wielders. Despite heavily outnumbering the magic wielders, the Westtroplis military was no much for these powerful beings, being beaten in many battles. It seemed as if they would be eliminated, if not for a breakthrough by the scientists. They managed to create a weapon that could cancel out magic wielders powers for a short period of time, and were also immune to the effects of them. This turned the tide of the war as the non magic wielders prevailed and forced the rogue magic wielders to go to the Academy.
After many years, it became one of the most well known Academy's in the world. Many people wanted to go to it, but as they had no powers, they were unable to join. There were many cases of people faking having powers, but they were dealt with. To make up for this, a smaller Academy as nearby for those who didn't have powers, having a subject about Magic, with this subject being spread across the world.
However, tradegy struck as one of the strongest earthquakes hit ever. This was unusual for Westtroplis as earthquakes were very rare, and if they did happen, it was very weak. This set off the magic force and caused a large portion of Bayside to split off from the country and sent out to sea, taking Bayside Academy with it.
Many rescue missions were sent immediately. None of them were successful as there some kind of force blocking them. After some further research and discovering that no one was being born with powers, it was decided that the magic force went with the island and prevented anyone from going to or from the island.
Every student that attended the Academy was at there at the time, with no teachers. Whilst it was a massive negative, everyone looked towards the positive and everyone united to build new homes. Thankfully, a lot of the land on the island was empty so that astray magic blasts wouldn't hit anything or anyone. The eastern coast contained a lot of ruined buildings of former houses from before the Academy, with it gaining the name Ruined Village. On the other side of an old wall separating the Village from the rest of the island, a town known as Central Kennedy was built, with a lot of the students moving in there. Some students decided to some new environments as well, using their powers to create the likes of The Crystal Caverns and Magma Depths. Located not too far from the location of the Academy was Electricity City, and thanks to the magic of students with electricity powers, was powered up and became the main source of energy. Bayside Academy rested on the western coast of the island, like it did while it was still part of Bayside.
Whilst building their new civilisation, many farms and food production buildings were built in order for there to be food. Clean water was also created thanks to complex machinery turning waste into water. After having all the essential needs of a regular human being, the next step was to have some sort of leader. Connect to the outside world was very limited, so it was decided to elect a leader to deal with the major stuff. A few students were willing to do it and after a long and tough process, a student by the name of Kaedan was elected as the leader, earning the name King Kaedan.
Slowly but surely, life started to return to some kind of normal. Modes of transport was built to allow for students leaving in The Ruined Village and the eastern side of Central Kennedy to get the Academy quicker. The classes remained the same as they resumed at the Academy resumed and were taught by the teachers via digital platforms , or by robots. In fact, robots ran a lot of the businesses outside the Academy, although a lot of the students had part time jobs. Since they had no contact to their families anymore, many the students relied on their friends to help them out, becoming their new family.
Although everyone still tried to find away to escape and return home, they'd continue to live on Bayside Academy Island in their normal lives.
Their new normal lives...
