Chapter 8 - System Breach

Riley began to make his to the Crystal Caverns, which was the same way that Rusty was headed earlier. It was also the obvious way to,cas that's where majority of the remaining survivors were. Before he could get far, he received a call from Kaedan.

"Riley, I just saw what happened. There's nothing you can do to save him."

"I'm aware of that. Everyone in Central Kennedy is dead as well. The message didn't reach them in time."

"There was a small chance it would reach Central Kennedy in time. We can only hope it reached everywhere else."

"The odds are lower though."

"What do you mean?"

"One of the generators in Central Kennedy what's been destroyed. Zachary's body is in the wreckage. I presume that his electricity combined with the generator's electricity, causing an explosion."

"So you're saying that the message could be delayed... where are you going?"

"I'm going after Rusty."

"You're going after them. You'll get yourself killed."

"I'm not gonna fight them. Well, yet anyways. But I'm going to keep an eye on them."

"Ok, you can do that. But don't do anything stupid."

"I'll try, but there's no promises."

The call ended and Riley headed to the Crystal Caverns and into the shadows so he couldn't be spotted. As he went deeper, he heard some commotion further down. Moving behind some the spiked rocks that were just before the wall and snuck further down the cave. There, he saw Rusty fighting some of the Magic Masters. Despite their immense powers, they were unable to defeat Rusty who seemed to know their every move. From around the corner, Riley heard a voice that sounded like they were confident, saying "Geez, you lot are a pathetic. Let a real magic user deal with this."

Riley instantly recognised it to be Wilson. He rolled his eyes as Wilson approached Rusty.

"Now I gotta warn ya, I'm pretty strong so-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Wilson was stabbed repeatedly by Rusty. In shock, he fell to the ground and died. It seemed like Rusty also didn't like him either. "So much for first impressions" They though as they walked off to kill more people.

"Out of everyone whose died, he probably deserved it the most, that idiot" Riley thought to himself as he followed behind.

After a short while, Rusty had made their way out of the Crystal Caverns with little to no resistance. There were a few Magic masters here and there, but the maximum there was at a time was two and they were beaten easily. Riley followed closely behind, staying out of view and spying on them, trying to gain something to use against them.

Up ahead, there was a sound of marching in the Magma Depths. The sound got louder and louder, signalling that it was getting closer. Rusty watched as the remaining members of the Magic  asters approached them. 

"Stand down, foolish human. The road ends here" spoke out the Magic Master who seemed to be the leader.

"You're half right about that. Just who it's for" replied Rusty, wiping off the blood on their knife with an evil smile.

All at once, the Magic Masters unleashed their magic at Rusty. Weaving through the onslaught of attacks and taking a few minor hits, Rusty deflected the attacks back at them, taking out multiple of the Masters in the process. When they noticed plan A wasn't working, the remaining Magic Masters moved onto plan B, which was using their combined brute force.
