Adam looked out into the ocean atop of the cliff face. He couldn't take his mind off why Riley was acting so strange. Friday, he was normal, and then the next day, he was all aggressive not saying why. But that was the least of his concerns now, with a busy day ahead. And by that, it was just hanging out with his friends.
He headed down the cliff back to his house, where the rest of his friends were waiting. As he got closer, he could overhear them about the incident at the lab the previous day.
"Apparently someone broke in and killed everyone. No survivors." Niamh said.
"Including Jester. I was hoping to visit him later today." Zachary replied.
"It wasn't just the lab, they got into the basement." Hannah added on.
"Someone broke into the basement of the lab?" Adam joined in the conversation. "Did they take anything."
"The good news is they only took one thing." Cameryn said. "The bad news is what they took."
"The Energy Orb. The stronger one." Hannah exclaimed.
"I thought they would've destroyed it considering what happened with the other one." Adam said confused.
"That's what they made is sound like. They hid somewhere in the basement that only certain people who knew about." Cameryn continued.
"All of them are dead, been killed during the break in. Well, except for one. And we know him." Niamh pointed out.
Shock jolted down Adam. "You're saying Riley could've done it?"
"It would sound extremely out of character of him. And he swore to never go near it again too." Zachary pointed out.
"But he was acting weird-"
Hannah was cut off by an alert coming from everyone's phones. There had been a killing spree in the Ruined Village. There were almost no survivors, with the murdering only killing people they saw.
"That could've been us if we hadn't come here." Cameryn pointed out.
"There's more. The murderer was last spotted headed for Central Kennedy. Their headed in our direction." Hannah panicked.
"We better get moving, or we're next." Urged Zacahry.
Before they were able to leave, a flaming sword flew by them and wrapped round. Digging into the ground in their escape route, a wall of fire covered the path away from the murderer. Turing back, the hooded killer appeared, with another wall of fire behind them. Glowing red eyes in the shadows of the houses were the only things that made it clear that there was someone there.
"Looks like we have no choice but to fight them." Adam said, stepping out. "Oi, who are you" he shouted out to the killer.
"I think you'll find I'm someone you know quite well." The murderer spoke as he stepped out the shadows, revealing himself to be Riley.
Everyone stared back in shock. One of their own friends, the one killing the citizens of the Ruined Village, and soon the rest of the island.
"Wait a sec, you match the descriptions of the person who invaded the lab." Niamh noticed. "Don't tell me..."
"Yeah it was me." Riley responded.
"So let me get this straight." Adam began to say angrily. "You get all aggressive. You take the most dangerous thing in the world. And now your killing everyone. What's the point of all this."
"I could tell you, as nothing will change really. But I'm on a time limit, so can't tell yah."
"I hardly recognise you now."
