Chapter 2 - Magic Training

Bang

Riley awoke to the sound of the book falling off the table. After blinking a couple of times, he realised he had dozed off whilst reading the book.

He looked at the clock. 4:57pm. He turned back to his boo- . Wait, 4:57pm! He has supposed to meet with Adam almost half an hour ago and training started with everyone else in 3 minutes.

Riley rushed up stairs and got changed into his casual clothes. He then rushed outside and looked at the time again. 4:59pm. There was no way he be able to get there in time. On foot anyways. Riley began to focus hard on where he wanted to be. He focused himself at the area where they planned to train with his friends, and in an instant, he had gone from the front yard of his house to in front of his friends.

Everyone else was already there like he expected, and where also about to start without him. 

"Thought you weren't gonna make it" Zachary said.

"Fell asleep"

"At least you're here. Who's going to fight first" Hannah said

"Me and Zachary, we have some unfinished business" Adam said a little bit menacingly, looking at Zachary

"I really don't want to-"

Before Zachary had finished his sentence, Adam had already dragged him onto the empty field. Everyone else stepped back as the two boys went to opposite ends of the field. Adam began to crack his fists, and Zachary rubbed his hands together to create electricity.

"3 2 1 fight"

Zachary ran towards Adam and shot a massive bolt of lightning at Adam, who managed to dodge it. Zachary powered an electrical powered punch and leapt at Adam, ready to deliver a-

Adam caught him by the neck and said "You're not gonna pull that on me" as he began to slam Zachary over and over into the ground. After a while, he launched Zachary across the field towards a big boulder at the other end. The force caused when he hit the boulder caused it to break in half. Thankfully, he had turned into a fish and rebounded with little harm. As he turned back into a human and laid there on the ground and groaned "I give up".

"That's for keeping me up basically all night"

No one was able to throw a 6 foot person that far, not even a professional athlete. For Adam, this was an easy feat, thanks to his super strength. Zachary's powers allowed him to create electricity, and for some reason, he could turn into a fish. No one knew why, but everyone joked it was because he looked like one. Hannah had the ability to harness the powers of the 4 core elements of fire, water, air and earth. Niamh had dragon and spirit like powers at her disposal. Cameryn could control animals and use them to help them in combat.

Riley had two sets of powers, both coming from inheritance. It was common to inherit powers from a parent, like Kaedan and Niamh. However, it was a little bit rare for some people to inherit powers from both their parents. Riley had gained telekinesis powers from his mother, allowing him to teleport at will, as he used earlier to get to training, able to move stuff with his mind, and high instincts, meaning he could dodge attacks in an instant. From his father's side, he  inherited the ability to create two swords and combine them into a double-edged sword, which his dad said their entire bloodline could someone their own weapons, and spike like powers. These could be used as offensive strategies like piercing someone, or as defence by creating a shield. He could also combine the two powers into blaster like things, which shot out pure energy created from telekinesis energy. He liked to call them Mega Blasters.

"We should probably speed things up before it gets too dark. We should train in pairs" Cameryn said.

Everyone agreed on doing that and paired up. Cameryn and Hannah, Adam and Niamh and Riley and Zachary.
