Chapter Ten: The Race That Stops A Nation

Ana could easily tell that Nash looked more at peace than she ever has after Bani's death, you could see the brightness in Nash's eyes, and Nash had been more focused in riding since coming back from England, as it has been a fortnight since the royal wedding but it was still the talk of the world. Nash trots over riding young Gold's Alliance while Ana was in deep thoughts about other things and Nash said to her "Ana? Honey?" Ana snapped out what she was thinking and said to her partner "Mhm? You alright?" Nash nodded and said to her "Yeah, you just seem out of it today, Ana..." Ana said to her calmly "I'm fine, Honey, just worried with the Breeders Cup tomorrow..." Nash could tell Ana was worried about Nash and the baby and Nash said to her "I will be fine, Ana... I am only four month pregnant and not even showing still... There is nothing to worry about." Ana sighed clearly nervous about it and Ana said to her "I know... But I am just worried, since you never really raced on the dirt before... And some of the jockeys might get aggressive towards you like early this year with that jockey..." Nash growled as she forgot about that jockey that basically nearly put Nash into the rails and Nash knew he was racing at Santa Anita also and Ana said to her "I am just worried about your own safety for tomorrow and Saturday..." Nash nodded as she hopped off Gold as they walked back to the stables and Nash said calmly "I know, but I will be fine... I doubt anything will go wrong tomorrow or Saturday..." Ana sighed and asked her "What did your doctor say? About it?" Nash replied as she let the stablehands handle with Gold "It depends on what you want to know." Ana said to her concerned "The gender..." Nash stopped as she thought she told Ana and Ana said to her "And no, you didn't tell me, you were mainly tired after a long day early this week..." Nash replied to her "Mhm... Thought I told ya... But... We are having a girl." Ana smiled hearing this and suddenly gives Nash a hug which throws Nash off guard but it made Nash feel a bit happy herself and Ana said to her "That's amazing to hear! Have you told anyone else?" Nash replied to her calmly with a small smile "If I didn't tell you, I most likely forgot to tell everyone else." Ana asked her curiously "Do you want to tell the family or you rather wait a bit?" Nash looked unsure herself about it and said to her "It's up to you, I don't really mind at the moment. I just have my mind on the Breeders Cup right now..." Ana said to her "You do realize you are legit listed as an outsider in all three races right?" Nash nodded as she knew this and replied "Yep, but it's not stopping me or my horses to try... Hell, I will be happy to finish in the top three as an outsider." Ana just smiled as she figured Nash might say that and Nash said to her "I am not going to be backing down from a fight..." Ana nodded and asked her "You excited for the coronation next week?" Nash sighed and said to her "I am since Tarna will be crowned as Queen along with Edward as King. Which is nice of the Queen to give to Tarna..." Ana nodded and asked her "And how is everyone taking it as Tarna being Queen?" Nash replied bothered as always "Eh, a few people are incredibly happy as it means change while a few aren't that happy with it... So I'm not really surprised..." "You worried about it?" Nash shook her head and said to her "Nope... If it was Bani, than I would be incredibly worried. But I am fine and at peace again... So I don't want to worry too much about it..." Ana said to her changing the subject "Anzela." Nash looked confused on the word and Ana repeated to her "Anzela... For the baby. We were talking about baby names a few days ago..." Nash was clearly thinking about the name and Nash finally said with a smile "I like it... It's a nice name for the baby." Ana smiled and suddenly Alec runs over to them and Nash said to him "Alec, no running around the horses..." Alec stopped and said to her "Sorry Ima..." Nash asked him confused to why he looked a bit worried "Is everything alright, sweetie?" Alec replied bothered "Granny and Grandpa asked if you were here..." Nash looked confused as did Ana until it hits Nash what he meant and Nash asked him "Please tell me that you told them I wasn't here..." Alec replied confused "No? Why would I say that to daddy's daddy and mommy?" Ana realized what is going on as Ana nor Nash told Alec anything about his true heritage and Nash looked worried as she sees Mike's parents coming over and Ana said to her "I'm sure it's nothing, honey..." Alec said to his grandparents with a big smile while giving them a hug and Nash said to her former in laws in a nice way possible "Mr and Mrs Gap... How you been?" Samantha, Mike's mother, replied to Nash not exactly in a friendly tone "We need to talk to you, Nashma..." Nash looked uncomfortable hearing this but said to Alec "Alec, Honey, go and see if Kate, or Charlotte want some help..." Alec runs off and Nash said to him seeing him running again "And no running!" Alec slows down to a fast walk instead and Andrew said to her annoyed "We want to talk to you about that suggestion that you never gave us any answer..." Nash clearly looked uncomfortable hearing this and Ana said to them calmly "We do understand why you want a baby with your son... But Nash isn't really comfortable with the idea for number of reasons. One of them being your son." Both Mr and Mrs Gap gave Ana a rudeish look and Andrew said to Ana annoyed "You stay out of this, Mrs Callaghan..." Ana frowned as she didn't like how they just talked to her since she did them a favour for them for their son's funeral and Nash said to him "You don't have a right to talk to my partner like that, Mr.s Gap... Like my girlfriend said, I am not comfortable on doing so one of the reasons because of the torture I had to go through of abuse from Mike... So I am not doing it... Sure he was your golden child and your only child, but I don't want nothing to do with him..." Andrew Gap looked so angry but Samantha asked Nash calmly as she did always like Nash "Nashma, are you happy?" Nash nodded and replied to her "I am very happy... I never been this happy in fucking years... I don't care about him like he never cared about me..." Samantha suddenly gives Nash a hug which threw Nash off guard and Ana stood there watching her partner feeling unsure about the hug and Andrew said to his wife "Samantha..." Samantha gave a pissed off look at her husband and said to him "I am supporting Miss Beli because of the proof about her abuse! And Mrs Callaghan was nice enough to help with the funeral." Andrew shuts up hearing his wife being pissed about it and Ana just stood there unsure what to say and Nash was quiet also as she really wasn't expecting it and Nash asked a bit suspicious "What's the cost?" Samantha looked confused and Nash said to her "Like, why you are suddenly supporting me when you and Mr Gap hated the fact that I announced that Mike was abusing me..." Samantha replied to her calmly "I believed you, Nashma... It was just my husband who didn't..." Ana wasn't sure about it and Nash clearly saw Ana uncomfortable with them what they said to Ana and Nash was thinking about it for her girlfriend's sake and said to them "I will have to think about it... And talk to Ana about it..." Samantha nodded and urged her husband that should go which they did and Ana said to her as soon as the Gaps left "Why you want to talk to me about it?" Nash replied to her "Because I saw how you felt to what they said to you..." Ana replied to her more bothered about something else "Understandable, but I am not comfortable with our son calling them his grandparents when he isn't even related to them... We need to tell Alec about it, Nash..." Nash nodded in agreement and said to her "We should have told him when we were up in London but... Well... You know..." Ana said to her "I know, but like I said, I am not comfortable with him calling them his grandparents... I mean, I understand that it's now a habit since he knew them since he was a baby and he is now like twelve... I just don't want him to actually think that Gap is related to him and everything..." Nash replied to her calmly "I know, Ana... We can tell him tonight at dinner... But I want to know what you want to do with them?" "Like I said, it's up to you..." Nash looked unsure what to do and Ana could tell Nash was really thinking about it and Nash finally said to her "I kinda want to cut ties with them... But, I kinda don't since they were nice to me since the start..." Ana nodded as it was true as they were nice to Ana when she first lost Michael and Ana thought for a moment before answering "I have an idea... Why not we let them stay in and if they do anything that steps out of line towards one of us, we will cut ties on them and everything, we will give them that warning to prepare for it." Nash nodded as it sounded fair to her and Nash said to her "That's fine with me..." Nash sighed now bothered as she seriously didn't expect to see her former in-laws in California since they live in Washington D.C. like Ana and Nash do and Ana said to her "Maybe they were here to do something maybe see family?" Nash shook her head before saying "I wish... They don't have family down here... Expect... Well... Me and to them, Alec..." "Wait, they don't know about Alec not being their grandson?!" Nash shook her head and said to her "No... because well, I stopped talking to them when Gap died... And I didn't want to bring back... Those kind of memories of Gap... So... I never had a chance to explain it... Plus, Gap always told his parents that Alec was 100% his when Alec wasn't and Gap knew that since Alec was born..." Ana groaned hearing this and Nash said to her "We can try and get Alec to stop but might take a while and it will take Alec a very long time to even call you 'mum' or something related to mum..." Ana nodded understanding this and said to her "Understandable..."
