Y/N's POV

I sat solemnly on the train trying to work out what I was going to do next. Who knows what horrors the matron would have cooked up for me if I went back to the asylum? I stared out the window, my hands mindlessly playing with the hem of my waistcoat until the train pulled its way into Charlottetown. I jumped down onto the platform in the midst of the steam as I tried to gain my bearings.

As I stood I heard a man's voice shouting getting closer and closer to me. I turned around to see a bearded man walking towards me and smiling with a look that made my stomach feel uneasy.

"Miss. Right this way, Miss." He spoke with a clear voice but a small voice in my head made me feel scared. Who was this man?

"Who are you?" I asked as politely as I could muster.

"I'm supposed to fetch you miss." He replied smoothly. Maybe the Cuthbert's had already gotten word to the asylum about sending me back but the idea seemed ludicrous to me.

"Who sent you?" I asked, still not trusting the stranger in front of me.

"Why your family of course, Now right this way young lady." My stomach flipped. I didn't have a family. He grabbed my arm and started to lead me out of the station.

My heart thumped in my chest as I fought to pull my arm from his grip. As I thrashed I felt his hand loosen and I slipped my arm free and bolted away from him. I could hear his heavy footsteps chasing me before fading but I kept running still.

Soon enough I made my way to the ferry and boarded, watching as the land faded away and saying my last goodbye to Green Gables, to the Cuthbert's and to Anne.

Matthew's POV

I stared at the station master in horror.

"Did she say anything, how did she seem?" I questioned frantically.

"She was quiet as when she arrived, a tad more solemn though. Didn't say a single word, just got on the train and left." The station master looked at me as panic shot through me. She was gone.

I left the station and headed over to the horse stables.

"Please, I need a horse." I asked the stable hand. If I could make it to Charlottetown then maybe there was still hope.

"Sorry sir but we've none to lend."

"Mine's deadbeat and I need to get to Charlotte town, please." I begged helplessly.

"Sorry Sir but I can't oblige." he responded, barely looking at me.

I began pleading with him desperately. If I could get to Charlottetown maybe I could find Y/N and bring her back to Green Gables.

"Money or not, I'm afraid I can't help you. These here belong to the guests and the hotels are spoken for this evening. You're welcome to rest yours here for a spell, though." The Stable master held his hand out and I passed over the reigns, spinning round frantically searching for another way to get to where I needed I spotted Sam on his cart.

"Sam!" I shouted running after the cart.

"Whoa. Whoa there. Matthew Cuthbert, whatever's got you all twisted up?" Sam asked, clearly perplexed by my worried state.

"Are you headed to the vessel? I need to get to Charlottetown!" I begged.

Sam looked over to his riding companion and allowed me to climb onto the back of the cart. I jumped aboard as we set off and I prayed that I wasn't to late.

Y/N's POV

I boarded the ferry in Charlottetown and as we sped across the sea I huddled up into the side of the boat, trying to hide from the cold sea air. As the boat bumped over each wave I could hear Miss Cuthbert's angry words repeating in my head.
