Finneas didn't seem too shocked that Adan Rivera had been dealing with Gang Lords. "It's part of the business," he'd said. "People like him don't just network with pretty little pigs. They deal with the big bad wolves. And Kayden...now that's a wolf." Finneas, during her status report, managed to give her more Intel about Klide. A little background about his upbringing and his original home, but mostly about his dealings.
"The guy is big on weapons dealing, having successfully dealt the most lethal weaponry in and out of LA without getting caught. The Klides are ranked second highest crime family in the Puerto Rican mafia, having territories in the US, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Canada. Not to mention his suspected involvement in various shootouts with police. Two or three confirmed including CRO agents. He's a beast in the gang field, he has connections with various street gangs in Puerto Rico and Argentina. Nobody fucks with him, not if they know his name. And guess what?" Finneas had said with a triumphant grin. "He's been suspected for human trafficking. Meaning he might be working with Rivera."
"Makes sense. Klide was a part of it and now Adan ensured that Storm is in it, too, immediately after Kai got Storm Stallions under Luna International's wing. All of their business outlets and associates are elaborate," Billie had said.
"Exactly my thoughts. Maybe not all, but most. Rivera has a tight circle of corrupt businessmen built on trust. We interrogated Tyla, too, the man won't spill shit. I suspect he knows more than he told you. He might be in it as well. It seems that once someone is in, nobody is ratting anyone out. No wonder the fucker is so hard to catch and so good at what he does. This is no one man salsa, it's a tango."
"Then it looks like I'll have to get into this dance and end the song."
Finneas cackled, shaking his head. "That was lame."
"You liked it."
"You damn wish."
Later that day, at one thirty sharp, her and Kai exited the Luna International building. His black Rolls Royce driven by Rusty pulled up on the roadside. Billie walked in front of him, greeting Rusty as he opened the door for them. She entered, Kai going in after her. Once he sat down and shut the door, he pulled off the black polarized sunglasses and placed them over his forehead.
"Nervous?"
Kai shook his head. "I just wish you'd stayed back."
"I'm your PA, I overlook all of your meetings. Anyway, he won't try anything."
Kai looked out the tinted windows without replying. Probably because they both knew that what she said was not a sure thing. Kayden Klide was unhinged. Anyone who purposefully dissatisfied him would surely get a hold of his wrath. Billie knew that she was completely protected by CRO should anything go wrong, but Kai was not so much as she was.
Corner Kisses was a well taken care of strip club with its name written in magenta and golden neon lights going down the side of the building. It was a lot bigger than most strip clubs. When Billie entered, she understood why. The marble floors were polished, swirled with gray and black while the ceiling had bulbs attached to them that glowed in different colors. Lightening blue, sunshine yellow, fire red. There was a bar right by the door that stretched up until the opposite wall and a center stage in the middle of the room with four poles and strippers that occupied all.
The tables where one would assume are for drinking or dining had poles sticking out in the middle where the strippers would dance and the so-called diners would watch. Among all of this, women dressed in almost nothing walked back and forth as if they ran the place.
Across different parts of the room, there were doorways covered with velvet red curtains, the wall above them labeling what each door led to.
