chapter 34: the illness of a heartbreak

arthur knew that something wasn't right, he had been feeling ill for a while now, ever since the bonfire, ever since everything has happened, everyone had taken time off of work, they needed time to mourn, after everything they have done, after everything she had done, they had killed her.

They had tried to stop them, But they wouldn't listen, He could still hear her screams, The screams of the dead people.

It was the most horrific image he had ever seen in his life, He didn't even know why this happened at all.

They had thought that things were finally going to go back to our normal but better.

bernadine: arthur, You need to rest.

arthur: I'm sure it's just some illness, I'll be okay.

bernadine: You are sick and you are going to be staying in this bed if the last thing I do, Which I hope it isn't, Because someone needs to keep an eye on you.

arthur laughed but he ended up having a coughing fit.

bernadine: I hope this makes you realize that you need to rest.

arthur: I'm sure I'll be fine if I-

bernadine: If you try to get out of that bed while you're still feeling ill, I will make you regret it, trust me, You don't want to see me when I'm mad.

arthur: trust me, i already know.

bernadine: What was that?

arthur: Nothing.

bernadine:.....Are you still thinking about what happened in the past?

arthur: it's the only thing i can think about, i wish i did more, charles and lazuli are dead because i couldn't save them.

bernadine: arthur, it isn't your fault they died, it was justin's fault, i just don't understand how he went from a kind man to a tyrant who assaulted an officer because he claimed to love her and how he wouldn't let anyone or anything hurt her.....

arthur: i just wish I did something......

then a woman walks over to him, she had burn marks all over her.

lazuli: this is a fucking nightmare for you.

arthur: lazuli?

lazuli: I hope you're ready for a life of suffering, All of you will pay for not saving me, You had let him hurt me and when things are finally right, Everyone suddenly decides that I am a curse, I never asked to be pregnant, I never asked for Justin to like me at all, My family hates me just because I can't feel love!

arthur: You can't feel love?
