I'm unsure why I had to hype myself up to make the short walk down to Calum's dressing room where Kinsley was.
Maybe it was because he'd be in there.
Back when Luke called, begging me to go on tour, I'd enthusiastically agreed. I'd been dying to tour my album, even planned to at one point. But Mum had passed shortly after I released the album and things just never fell into place. Touring with the boys seemed like the perfect idea.
I had essentially rebranded myself in my time apart from the boys. I was now just "Sulli," the strong, independent woman who wrote songs about her ex and didn't care what anyone thought of her. I was more than happy to slander the boy. I'd gotten over him, sleeping with random guys time and time again.
But being here, seeing his face every day... my tough persona was just that. A persona.
Come to think of it, I've never actually gotten over the boy I grew up with. It didn't make sense. Love never really did, it wasn't logical.
So, I put on the tough persona each and every day. Pretended that seeing him with Kinsley didn't actually kill me inside. Like every time he kissed her so sweetly and softly like he had with me felt like a knife in the guy every time.
"Kinny?" I knocked hesitantly on the open door, bracing myself to see them wrapped in each other.
She turned to face the door, her shorter brown locks flying as she did. "Yeah?"
I gestured behind me, trying to ignore his gaze. "Ready to hear some new music?" His eyes were on me, I knew it. I felt them on me more often than I'd like to admit.
The small brunette let out an excited scream, jumping up from her seat. She kissed Calum's cheek and told him she'd be back later. I ignored the feeling the affection gave me.
Kinsley hooked her arm in mine, tugging me out of the room. I guided her down the maze of a hallway, leading her to where I'd found a piano earlier today. The song I wanted to show the girl required one.
"Ooh, a piano." Kinsley excitedly clapped her hands as I pulled her into the room behind me.
I led her over to the piano bench, urging her to sit down next to me. "I think I'm gonna play you one of my slower songs, that ok?"
"Those ones always make me cry... so, please."
We both let out a laugh, Kinsley always knew how to lighten the mood. I'll thank her for that later.
"Well, Kinny, this one's called 'making the bed' and-"
"Do you talk about making your bed?"
I laughed again, normally I'd be mad whenever someone cut me off, but never with Kinsley.
"Not exactly..." I took a deep breath, lightly placing my fingers on the keys. This song wasn't necessarily written for being played on a piano, but it worked. "Just listen, ok?"
"Want it, so I got it, did it, so it's done
Another conversation with nothing good to say
I thought it, so I said it, took it 'cause I can."
Thoughts flooded my mind as I sang.
"Mind if I join?" Ashton's voice sounded from the doorway, I simply nodded, continuing to sing.
Kinsley waved him over, "You know we always want you around."
Ashton's smile was big as he walked over, stopping just behind the brunette, resting an arm on her should to prop himself up.
