It had been a few days since Jadon, had come over to stay. Jadon's visits were infrequent because of his demanding football career. The arrival of her big brother always brought a sense of excitement and warmth to their home. Imani and Jadon shared a special bond, one that transcended the usual sibling rivalry and brought them closer together.
On this particular morning, Imani found herself torn between her usual routine and the desire to spend more time with her brother. These visits were precious to both of them.
Imani had always been diligent about going to school, but today, she made a decision. She decided to take the day off, much to the surprise of her mom. With a grin on her face, she told her mother, "I just want to hang out with Jadon today, Mom. It's been ages since we had a proper chat."
Her mother, understanding the importance of family bonds, agreed with a smile, and the two siblings embarked on a day filled with laughter, reminiscing about old times, and creating new memories.
As they enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, Imani couldn't help but bring up the subject of Jobe. "You remember Jobe, right?" she asked Jadon.
Jadon, taking a sip of his iced coffee, nodded. "Of course, he's my best friends brother"
Imani nodded enthusiastically. "Oh shut up. Anyways like I was saying he's actually been really sweet and he even showed me around town and introduced me to his friends."
Jadon smiled and replied, "I'm glad your happy immy"
Meanwhile, at school, Jobe couldn't help but notice Imani's absence. He had grown quite fond of her, admiring her intelligence, kindness, and the way she lit up a room with her smile. They had become good friends over time, and he often found himself looking forward to their conversations.
When Jobe realized Imani wasn't in school, his mood took a dip. He was genuinely upset about her absence and couldn't focus on anything else. He hoped she was okay but couldn't shake the feeling of missing her presence.
As the school day came to an end, Jobe walked with his friends, trying to act as though Imani's absence didn't affect him as much as it did. However, his friends noticed him zoning out and couldn't resist asking him about it.
"Hey, Jobe, what's up with you today? You seem kinda off," one of his friends remarked.
Jobe hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should reveal his true feelings. But then, he decided to be honest, though his face turned a shade of red that was impossible to miss. "Well, you see," he stammered, "Imani and I, we're just friends, but... I think I might have caught feelings for her over time."
His friends exchanged knowing glances, and a mischievous grin spread across one of their faces. "Jobe, you're blushing! Looks like someone's got a little crush," they teased.
Jobe couldn't help but smile, embarrassed but also relieved to have shared his secret. "Yeah, maybe I do," he admitted, feeling a weight lifted off his shoulders.
