I feel my body is heavy and sore. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that I was in my bedroom. The last thing I remember, was shooting that guy and Asher running in. I sat up and my head started pounding. I groan and Lexi heard me. She comes running over to me and wraps me in a warm embrace. I tried to speak, but could not. She noticed.

"Doctor said that you will not be able to speak for a little bit. There is some damage. Your larynx and a few blood vessels were damaged but it should only take a few days to heal. You will have to refrain from speaking for a bit, you will also have to eat super mushy foods as swallowing will be painful. Oh, I must go let Mr. Wood and Mr. Rodriquez know you woke up. Do not force yourself to speak." She said. She sprung off the bed and walked out of the room. I get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. I look at my neck. There was a massive bruise, just as my old one was almost healed. I put on my wraps and couple shirts paired with sweatpants. I throw on my robe and I walk out of my room and down to the stairs. I am curious to know how long I have been out. I walk to Leo's office and he is there with Lexi and Asher. They all shoot up when they see me.

"Ryan, should you be walking around?" Asher asked. He jogged to my side. I shrugged my shoulders. Leo passes me a glass of water. The cool water soothes my sore throat.

"How... long... have... I... been.... out? I end up whispering my words.

"You have been out for a few days." Leo replied. I nodded. I take another sip.

"What happened?" I managed to shorten the spacing, but was still whispering.

"Well, you were attacked at the nightclub and you did a number on those guys more than they did to you." Asher let out a chuckle. I nod. Leo and Asher started talking about that night then moved on about what to do with the launch. This is the first time that I got to admire how handsome Asher looked. His messy black hair and icy blue eyes. He has a chiseled face. My heart started to race. Nope, I can not develop feelings. Even though he is helping us, he is still the enemy company. I end up feeling sleepy. Asher noticed and wrapped up the meeting. I was sleepily walking back to my room. I suddenly feel a strong-arm wrap about me. I look up and see Asher. He looks like he has not slept at all in the last few days. I almost trip due to my slipper, he sighs, then lifts me up.

"Is it okay for you to be lifting a man bridal style?" I whispered.

"Hm, I'm not sure but this mansion looks pretty empty so I don't think anyone is going to notice." He said

"Okay. How have you slept at all seen that night?" I asked. We approach the door.

"Not really. The other night, you were screaming in your sleep from the incident." He said.

"I'm... sorry." I said.

"Do not be. I should have paid more attention to who wanted to harm you." He said. It sounded like he was beating himself up from not being able to protect me. I get that my smallish figure makes me seem defenseless and weak. But seriously I hated the fact that he carried me all the way up to my room.

"So, what is going to happen to the launch?" I asked. I walk over and sit on the couch that is in my room. I asked Lexi to brew some tea. I saw the doctor left some cream to help with the bruise.

"Well, we may cancel it." He sighed.

"No please do not. We need this launch to happen." I tried to raise my voice a little bit but my throat erupted with pain causing me to wince.

"Hey, don't push yourself." He said.

"But I get why you need the launch to happen. Maybe your dad can present it in your place." He said. I nodded. I can talk he wants to ask me a question but he does not want to.
