Alvenes Hjem was the Royal City of the kingdom of Usad which then became the Royal City of the dominion of East Usad. Its most memorable feature was the Great Immaculate Castle Himmselsk Vind. Besides that, nothing much was said in the history books Eowyn had found in both Gaius's library and those in the Hall of Records. Apparently, most books covering Usad's history and culture had been sealed on the king's orders. Gaius only managed to save the Ljosalfar Book as it was an ancient book and since he was quite of a scholar, he did not which to let go of it. So he hid it with the Magic Book until he met the siblings.
It had been months now since Eowyn began her research on Usad and she had discovered few things, only surface things. Yet, she knew that this kingdom was the key, the place that possessed all the answers to her questions. And after conversing with Kilgharrah weeks ago, she had the confirmation. For her to discover where she came from and who her parents were, she had to leave Camelot. But she was not ready yet. She did not want to leave Camelot. Though she detested Uther, her family and friends were there. She still had a plethora of things to learn.
Quite frankly, the simple thought of leaving Camelot frightened her. Eowyn knew everything that was to be known to live on her own. She knew how to cook, how to hunt, how to do laundry, she knew how to fight, and she knew how to heal herself. But she had never lived on her own. She had always been surrounded by people she loved and the idea of being on her own in this vast world, in a foreign kingdom... the change would be too sharp, too sudden. The pressure is too great. When would she know she's ready? And how would she know?
Three knocks on the door. Both Gaius and Eowyn who were reorganizing the old man's works turned to the door that opened, revealing a Guard.
"Court Physician, apprentice, the king requires your presence in the Council Chamber,"
Eowyn and Gaius exchanged a curious look before following the guard. When the king would summon them, it was never good news. It has been a month or two since their aid had not been required which did grant them a little rest.
When they got to the Council Chamber of Doom, Arthur and Merlin were there as well. They had left with a few knights to hunt at dawn. Usually, when they would leave for a hunting trip, they would return around noon, not in the middle of the morning, which suggested that they were the cause of their summoning. As Eowyn walked a pace behind Gaius as they headed to where the king stood, the girl noticed that the prince's eyes lingered a little too long on her figure. When he noticed that she noticed, he rapidly looked away which brought a discreet but sheepish smile on her lips.
A map of Camelot was spread on the table.
"You asked for us, my Lord?" Gaius asked.
Uther turned to his son. "On our hunt, this morning, we encountered a beast," Arthur said.
"A beast?"
"Yes, it had...the face of a snake and the body of a leopard and uh... the haunches of a lion and the feet of a heart,"
Gaius froze. He looked at Eowyn who mirrored the same grave and concerned expression as him, which did not go unnoticed by the king.
"What is it?" Uther asked.
"The creature you describe has all the characteristics of the Questing Beast," Gaius said.
"Surely that's a myth," Arthur reasoned.
"According to the old books, the appearance of the Questing Beast is supposed to foreshadow a time of great upheaval,"
"Gaius, it's an old wives' tale," Uther said.
"Look, whatever it is, it's spreading panic. The people fear it will enter the city," Arthur added.
"Then we must kill it. Arthur, gather the guard together. You ride at dawn."
