Eowyn and her knights eventually returned to Alvenes Hjem. Gudmund and Alfhild remained in Vindes Land as members of the High Council to supervise the transition of the West. And the months passed as they all worked hand in hand to rebuild the kingdom. Of course, the instability of their relationship with Camelot was hanging over their hands but as no invasion occurred, Eowyn entertained the thought that Arthur was the one responsible for this. Since he defended Usad's border, he must also be the one holding his father back from retaliation against Usad.

It gave the High Council the opportunity to prepare for Eowyn's coronation. Now that the kingdom was whole again and that the Four Sacred Protectors had been retrieved from Uther, Eowyn could finally be crowned High Queen. It was something that, though she had told no one, she dreaded. To this day, her sudden change of status was still a shock and she doubted she would ever get used to it. But becoming High Queen, it will cement her role once and for all. It will sit her at the same table as all the other kings of the land. A part of her had been thinking of all this as a dream she would eventually wake up from. So being crown queen will make everything real. An entire nation will definitely rely on her. It was a great responsibility.

Eowyn let out a sigh as she signed the last document of a pile before putting away her quill and standing up. She tried not to think too much of the coronation. Bearach and Sif were handling the preparation while she focused on what used to be West Usad. A lot of things were to be taken care of.

She sat by the window of her room when she had a view of the training ground. Lancelot and Perceval were training with the knights of Usad. Perceval, despite his intimidating stature, was a gentle soul. He often visited the lower town to play with the children of the orphanage and bring them food. As for Lancelot, he'd help around whenever he could. Since the end of the war, already three months prior, the two remained in Alvenes Hjem. They were wanderers but it seemed they took a liking to the city.

Although, Eowyn suspected that Lancelot decided to stay for her. She was no fool, she could read him as well as he could read her. He probably believed that it was the only way for him to be close to her. And it did break Eowyn's heart. Despite his refusal to entertain his love for her, he still could not let go. Eowyn did not want to hurt him and she knew that the simple sight of her was like a jab to his heart. Seeing her was a constant reminder that he could not have her. She felt the same way with Arthur back in Camelot. She wanted Lancelot to find someone who could love him the way he deserved to be loved, but she could not force him out of the city. It was a painful situation but it seemed that the pain did not bother him.

"Sister..."

Eowyn froze.

"Sister..."

Immediately, she grasped the Hjalparinn and closed her eyes.

"Camelot has fallen. I need your help."

The voice was faint and gradually disappeared from the wind. Merlin must have used a spell to carry a message though the distance hindered its clarity. The siblings have been communicating this way for the past few months. If Merlin was found with a letter from her, he could be charged with treason which was something Eowyn wanted to avoid at all costs.

Fortunately, both had magic so they had many resources to communicate, rendering Eowyn able to be up to date with events in Camelot. Morgana tried to kill Arthur during his quest by giving him an enchanted bracelet, an old love of Gaius visited with a Manticore, and a young man cheated using magic during Camelot's tournament, all that when Cenred was surely recovering from his defeat. It was only a matter of time before he and Morgause decided to make a move and it seemed that day had come.
