[Y/n's POV]

As I stepped out of Angel's Share, I waved goodbye to Kaeya one last time. Welcoming the cold that came with the very first hours of the morning, I grinned like a drunk idiot as I remembered what I could officially call the best date I had ever been on.

Since high-end posh restaurants were scarce in Mondstadt and were usually found in nations such as Liyue and Fontaine, Kaeya had made do with what he had. After persuading his brother to let him use the tavern for the evening, Kaeya had decorated the place with candles and had cooked some food for us both. It was charming.

I had barely made it down half the street when that lingering feeling that I was being watched came again. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, a feeling I generally despised, since it made me feel weak and vulnerable. Then suddenly, an arm reached out and I felt myself being pulled into the shadow of a nearby building.

My eyelids popped open and my e/c eyes met a pair of teal ones.

"V-Venti?" my voice was slow, measured, "Is that you?"

His eyes widened, then narrowed and his voice became upset, hurt, accusing even, "What are you doing out at this time? And with Kaeya of all people!"

I eyed him warily, this wasn't like him. The Venti I know wouldn't be like this. He'd be happy for me. Standing next to him now, the small space we were in required us to stand fairly close. And in this small space, by the light of the moon, his eyes seemed to have a faint purple tint, a sheen. It was so incredibly faint that I would have missed it if we weren't so close.

"Venti, are you feeling okay? You don't look so good..." Despite my best efforts, I couldn't stop a hint of nerves creeping into my voice.

"Oh I'm fine y/n! But why did you go out with Kaeya?" he suddenly grabbed my arm, his grip cold, firm like iron, "If you wanted to eat, you could have just told me. We could have gone somewhere, just us two..."

Venti smiled then and my blood ran cold. It was eerie and for the first time in years, I felt an emotion I vowed I'd never feel again.

Fear.

His grip on my arm tightened and I winced slightly, "Venti, please let go..."

"No. I don't want to let you go," disturbing giggles pierced his words every so often and his eyes met mine, "You look scared. You're not scared of me..."

His smile faltered and his pupils dilated as his eyes widened.

"Are you...?"

His grip loosened on me enough for me to slip out of his grasp and I took this as my chance.

Turning on my heel, I ran.

I left my high heels, they would be too problematic.

I ignored the calls from Venti.

I ignored the strange looks I got from the few people around.

I just ran as fast as I could in the direction of my house.

I didn't look back.

And I really wished I'd taken up Kaeya's offer to walk me home.
