Venti x Reader Halloween Oneshot (Modern AU, away from main storyline)

"Venti, what's one thing that would make you really, really scared?" I asked, glancing over at the green-headed boy sat on my sofa. He looked up at me, his teal sweater paws flapping as he clapped his hands, distracted by playing Patty-cake with the little girl in front of him.

"Klee thinks Venti would be scared if Dodoco dressed up as a bomb!" Klee giggled.

Albedo had to be somewhere for the evening and I had been happy to look after Klee for the time being. I didn't mind an extra pair of hands with the Halloween decorations. But Klee had been more interested in playing with Venti than putting pumpkins in windows.

Venti chuckled and ruffled Klee's hair, before turning to me with a shrug, "Scary movies, I guess. Nothing else really scares me. I get they're fake and all, but that doesn't mean they aren't scary."

I laughed loudly, nearly dropping the pumpkin I was holding, "Really? Scary movies? None of them are even that scary!"

Venti grumbled annoyedly as he glanced at the clock, "Klee, time for bed."

He began to stand but Klee held out a hand and rushed to the door, "Klee can go to bed herself," she said in that cute voice of hers, "Venti can stay here with Onee-chan!" With that, she rushed up the stairs, leaving me and Venti downstairs.

(Note: Klee calls Y/n Onee-chan not because they are siblings, ((I canon Klee and Albedo sibling supremacy lol)) but because Albedo and Y/n pretty much grew up together, so once Klee came into the picture, she began to see Y/n as more of a sister-figure, and just felt more comfortable calling her that.)

~Time skip bc I can~

I flopped down next to Venti, curling my legs up next to me. Venti smiles across at me.

"Klee asleep then?" He mutters, his eyes now focused on the screen, fiddling with the remote.

"Yep," I looked over at the TV, "What are you doing now then?"

Venti pressed a button on the remote as something started playing. He reached over to cover us both with a blanket.

"I thought we could watch a scary movie. Since you're so brave, I thought you would be fine with it." He grins.

I sigh as the opening scene to Scream comes on. It was my favourite movie series, I hadn't watched it in years.

"Okay," I smile, but just one.

***

We were halfway through the third Scream movie and I hadn't given into my fear yet. I was relaxed, curled up cozy as a pretty passive scene played. Suddenly, a jump-scare played and I squealed, burying my face in Venti's chest.

"Tell me when it's over..." I muttered. I'd forgotten how bad I was with jump-scares.

Venti let out a low chuckle, his hand on the top of my head, slowly caressing my hair. He paused for a second.

"It's gone now." He finally said.

I sat up, looking over at the screen, then to Venti. My cheeks were flushed red and I was incredibly embarrassed at how the jump-scare had got me. I let out a low grumble.

"It wasn't that scary..."

Venti chuckled, winding his arms around my waist, pulling me close so I was sat between his legs, his chin on my head and hands on mine.

"Here, stay like this, if something scary comes up, then at least I'm close enough to cover your eyes."

I smiled, snuggling back into him.

I felt safe.
