Jimin was sitting alone in the library, his safe haven, wearing headphones and engrossed in a BL series called 'Love Mechanics,' his favorite one, the storyline had always reminded him of his love life. His head was resting on one of the tables designated for reading and studying. it was his free time out of his hectic schedule at school. But the main reason was to be away from his best friend.
It had always been painful to witness the person you love in the arms of someone else, all lovely and caring. Every time he saw that he could hear his heart cracked little by little. Yet, Jimin clung to a tiny hope, believing that Jungkook was just playing around, that he had never been serious but What held him back from confessing or making a move was the knowledge that Jungkook was straight, as straight as a ruler, he had no chance, not even a tiny little bit.
They were now in their final year of college, and Jimin had been in love since high school, for six years now.
Coming to Soul from Busan to study was challenging for the two boys, but they had each other through the changes they made. After their first year, they met the couple Teahyung and J-hope. Jimin was grateful for their friendship, after all, they kept his company when Jungkook is busy chasing after a new pussy.
Jimin was a romantic person, yearning for his own love story that seemed destined to never happen. he envied his two friends for living the love story he dreamed of. He couldn't help but envy his two friends, living the love story he had always dreamed of – falling in love with your best friend, having it reciprocated, confessing their feelings, and becoming a loving couple. As simple as it seemed, it was his most cherished and desirable wish.
"Yuh, what's up?" a voice interrupted Jimin's watching session.
"How did you know where I am?" Jimin asked, taking off his earphones.
"It wasn't that hard for a lonely big like you, sitting alone in a library watching a ridiculous series. You should introduce yourself to real-life Jimin." The new voice said.
Jimin wasn't offended, but he was self-aware. he knew that he was a closed-off person, who rarely socialized outside his group of friends, and he had never accepted any of the guys who had confessed their feelings to him. Jimin was a typical introvert.
"Thanks for the compliment. What brings you here anyways" Jimin asked, acting like Jungkook's words didn't bother him at all.
"Didn't you see what time it is? We were waiting for you for lunch, but you didn't show up," Jungkook replied, Jimin admitted that he had forgotten about their group lunch. No one could blame him; sometimes, being with them felt exhausting, and laughter became a challenging task. Right now, he just wanted some time for himself, but he couldn't escape Jungkook's constant nagging when he was doing the same thing, disappearing to be with a new girl.
"You could've just called me," Jimin said in annoyance.
"As if you were going to answer me," Jungkook replied, his irritation evident in his voice.
"I am offended," said Jimin while holding his back
"You should be."
"Anyway, we are wasting time here. Let's go, the guys are waiting for us," Jungkook suggested after checking his watch. He had been searching for Jimin for about 15 minutes, and now they only had another 15 minutes to eat before their next lecture.
Jimin was sitting in his room after a long day at college, feeling exhausted and drained, recalling the events of the day. When he and Jungkook entered the cafeteria, they discovered that their other two friends had already disappeared, probably eating each other faces somewhere, before their next class. It wasn't something new.
When they arrived at their usual table, Jungkook volunteered to go bring up the food for the both of them, leaving Jimin waiting. He waited and waited but Jungkook never came back.
It was always like that, ditching him after pulling him out of his bubble to leave him lonely and broken each time.
Jimin wanted to move on, to love someone else, to be with someone else. But it never seemed to work out for him, it was like Jungkook had cast a spell on him, making it impossible for Jimin to see anyone but him.
He had always been fine with being just a best friend, but now he doubts it was even true, he doubted he was even still his best friend, because best friends don't treat each other like that, they don't ditch each other like that. Jungkook has been getting away little by little, and it hurt him each time little by little.
If it wasn't for Teahyung, probably Jungkook wouldn't have bothered to look for him. he probably had more important things to do than to go look for his best friend.
How can they still be best friends when he can't even get just one hour of Jungkook's time?
Something had changed about Jungkook, and he still doesn't know what it is. He just hoped it wasn't something that would lead him to hear his heart crack once again.
"This headache is killing me, "Jimin said, a hint of irritation in his voice due to the persistent headache that had been plaguing him for a while now. one time he even fainted.
I should start eating well; skipping meals like that didn't bring me any good," Jimin mumbled to himself as he searched the drawer for a painkiller he had bought weeks ago.
Slowly, his eyes began to grow heavy, welcoming the dreamland where he could envision the life he longed for, wrapped in the arms of the person who had stolen his heart a long time ago.
