"And finally, we all need to lock in on the location," Dominik said, glancing around the conference room, "What's the general consensus?"

"I think we should at least consider the new facility in Astra Vista. It has plenty of space."

"But what do the forecasts look like?"

"Clear skies all week," Illyana spoke up, "But we should still have a plan B just in case things develop. Though, I don't think Astra Vista would be the best second choice considering a lot of people would need to commute through Ember to get there."

Dominik paced back and forth, considering the suggestion. His team was busy taking notes and raptly listening, while Attila, who'd joined them remotely, was actively listening in on a spirited debate between Dr. Nelson and Dr. Roberts.

Dominik considered himself the type of person who could easily command any room, and have his presence felt by everyone in attendance. He was a natural born leader, and speaker, with a deep voice and a warm presence that drew people in.

But Dominik was also a weak man.

Weak to a dimpled smile and deep brown eyes.

As he spoke, his eyes couldn't help but occasionally drift over to Illyana, who was sitting next to him. She was the picture of professionalism, dressed in a tailored gray suit and exuding a radiant confidence.

She was always so quick to catch on, her contributions to the discussion well thought out and eloquent.

He didn't even realize he'd been staring until she looked up from her pad, giving him a reassuring smile with her eyes crinkling at the corners.

He loved her.

He'd known it ever since he first saw her twelve years ago with dirt in her hair and tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Atilla!" He'd reprimanded as he pushed the taller boy away from her and took her into his arms, "Ne üsd meg!" [You can't hit girls!]

"Agyamra megy!"
"She's being annoying!] Atilla responded dismissively, tone heavy with defiance.

"She has just lost her mother."

Atilla's dismissive attitude faltered but only for a moment, his eyes betraying a hint of realization before he turned away, mumbling, "És akkor mi van? [And so what?] We have all lost people," His words were laced with a bitterness that was rare for someone his age.
