Seher's POV
"Good morning, Dr. Rajput" The receptionist greeted as I walked upto her reception desk.
"Good morning, Veena" I replied with a smile.
"Any appointments for today?" I asked.
"Yes, you do have two appointments for the day" She replied after checking for any appointments on her laptop.
"Just two?" I questioned.
That means that I would be free by lunch time.
"Yeah. Just two" She replied shortly.
"That's great then" I said feeling a bit excited just thinking about the things I could do during my free time.
Maybe I should text Bani and ask her to meet up and then maybe we could grab some lunch together and then we could just hang out or go for some shopping maybe.
Sending a quick text to Bani, I asked her to meet me at a restaurant near the hospital by lunch time.
A few minutes later after I had my coffee and got settled in my cabin, it was time for the first appointment for the day and after speaking with Veena once again over the phone I realized that it was a follow up patient. I asked Veena to send her in.
The session with Miss. Priya, stretched much longer than I expected. Lately she has been dealing with some severe mental health issues...she has been feeling like she's being bipolar at times and it is really effecting her personal as well as professional life.
A few minutes later the session with Miss. Priya came to an end and it was time for the second and final appointment for the day and God knows for what reason but it was taking longer than usual for Veena to send the next patient in, so I decided to call her up and ask the cause of this sudden delay.
But just as I was about to call her, there was a knock on the glass door of my cabin. Keeping the phone aside, I mumbled a 'come in' to the patient behind that door and decided to go through the soft copy of the patient's file on my laptop that Veena had already mailed me.
And just as I was going through the patient's previous medical history, I was snapped out of my thoughts when someone cleared their throat.
I looked up at the source and my eyes made contact with a pair of dark brown ones, which held me captive for some odd reason and believe me when I say this that I really didn't look at any of his other facial features because his eyes literally held mine captive until he cleared his throat once again, obviously to break the spell that I was suddenly enchanted into.
And it did work as I quickly, almost as if in a lightning speed averted my eyes from his, my cheeks suddenly feeling warm due to embarrassment of straight up gawking at him.
God! Please tell me that I didn't just do that. That I didn't just gawk at my patient in broad day light, in my own cabin, where the most prominent thing is being within your professional boundaries.
Being at the peak of embarrassment, I took a deep breath, trying to get back into my professional self. I got off the couch that I had been sitting on, to make him feel welcome and somewhat overcome the memory of me staring into his eyes.
"Mr. Malhotra, I'm so sorry for what I did a moment back. Um..." I paused struggling to find the correct words to justify my behavior.
Goddamm Seher! You are a freaking psychiatrist, so stop struggling with your words and freaking act like one.
"Actually there was something else going in my head back then..." I trailed off.
Great! Now you are down to lying, my subconscious rolled her eyes at me while giving me a disappointed look as I just sighed in kinda defeat.
