Sam
Alexia: Are you there yet?
Sam: We just got here. You can stop asking every five minutes now.
Alexia: Lo siento. I'm only worried about my girlfriend and her child.
Sam: I'm messing with you, Ale. We're just now at Jameson's.
"Can I knock?" Riley asked as we stopped in front of the front door.
"Yep."
Sam: Riley's knocking now. We'll call you in a bit. I love you.
Alexia: I love you. Tell Riley I love her as well. Por favor.
Sam: I will.
"Daddy!"
Sam: I've got to go. I love you ❤️
"I've heard a rumor that there's a birthday girl roaming around New York. Have you heard about her?"
"That's me, Daddy!" Jameson held our daughter as she leant backwards, practically upside down. "I turn six tomorrow!"
"No you don't. You're still a baby. I'm sure of it!"
"Uh, uh. You're still little."
"No I'm not!" She giggled.
"If you say so."
"Where's Hailey?"
"In her room waiting for you." Jameson let Riley down. She ran off towards her sister's room. "Hey, Sam."
"Hi, Jameson." He came and hugged me. "How are you?"
"Good. You?"
"I'm doing pretty great."
"You look good." He smiled. "The Barcelona sun is doing you good. You still doing good there?"
"Yeah, we're both good. Money is tight, as always, but she's happy. Even when she's mad, she's happy."
"You should consider coming back—"
"You know I won't do that. As much as I hated being stuck there, I wouldn't change it. Things get easier as you figure life out. Look at you and Rose. You have it good. Riley and I have it good our own way."
We had it good. Alexia had become a rock foundation since we pretty much settled into a relationship, and even more so when we told Riley a few weeks ago.
"Everyone has it good in their own way. You've always said that. But you still haven't met anybody worth your time?"
He'd always been rooting for me to find the one 'worth my time'.
"I don't know." I shrugged.
"Oh, come on—"
"I thought I heard Riley and Hailey in there." Rose came walking into the room. "How are you, Sam?" She hugged me tightly.
"Good. You look good. The baby's healthy?"
"He's great." She smiled. "He's due in three weeks."
"And you should be sitting down." Jameson said. "Please."
"He worries so much." Rose laughed.
