Alexia
"You're improving you every day, Alexia. You're almost at the point where you can't do much more."
"Define 'much more'."
Antonio chuckled. "Your knee still has some healing to do, but there's nothing you can do to help it heal faster." I hopped off the medical table and slipped my shoes back on. "Which is a good thing, but this is where it can get much more emotionally draining. But I'm sure you'll be just fine."
"Only time will tell. Thank you."
I made my way out of the facilities building and towards the fields. We had so many here, and we were truly blessed to have had what we did, but we always wanted more.
Some of the girls were already out here putting their cleats on. Patri and Ingrid were sat on the ground, talking and tying laces. I sat down next to them on a cooler.
"Hola," I smiled. "I'm making good progress with my knee. Jogged about a mile."
"Wow, that's amazing, Ale." Patri patted my calf from the ground.
"That is pretty incredible. I'm proud." Ingrid laid her legs flat out in front of her. "We all are. How are you doing though? Since the breakup with Sam? I've been thinking about you. So has María. She's more concerned than she shows."
How had I been doing? Life was kicking my ass mentally. Then I thought everything was getting better, but then my documentary came out and I had no idea the producers put in any details about my breakup with Sam.
They did and then I had to text her, pleading my case that I didn't know. She said it was fine, but I saw what they were saying. I told her if she needed anything, I'd be there then I asked about Riley. She never responded to me. Ichecked my phone like a maniac for days. I missed her.
I missed her so much.
"It's...It's been tough." I replied honestly.
"She'll come back. I'd never seen you happier, Alexia. It's as though you were someone new. In a good way, of course." I laughed at Patri's nervousness.
"You were very happy. I do miss that little one of Sam's. Riley, right?" I nodded. "It'll work out. I know it. We all have a feeling."
"Even Jonatan."
"You all dragged Jonatan in on this?"
"We did, yes. But only because we love you."
"Whatever, Patri." I shoved her over by pushing her shoulder.
The training sessions passed rather quickly. I watched from afar and sat on that cooler the entire afternoon.
I left the facility a little after three and drove. I just drove. I didn't have anywhere to be or anywhere to go. I took myself down through the sights of Barcelona then through the areas I loved the most.
As I was driving, I passed by this small building that was for sale. I thought nothing of it until I passed by it a second time. Then a third time. Fourth. On my fifth go-around, I rolled to a stop in front of it. The building seemed slightly rundown, but I still stepped out of the car.
I saw someone inside, so I went to open the door, but it was locked. I gently tapped on the glass, startling whoever was in there. The woman's eyes went wide when she saw me. I could see the hurry in her walk, but the I'm not going to seem desperate walk with it.
