Sam

I'd been pacing up and down the hall of mine and Alexia's home for the past twenty minutes. She was supposed to be home an hour ago.

We still have plenty of time to make it to the registry before it closes, but with the fact that Alexia was running extremely late, I was now unsure if we'd make it.

I nervously began to fiddle with my dress straps. Where were you? I paced more and more, eventually picking Nala up to pace with me.

I walked through the entire house. If she were to come home, I'd be getting married. The idea of marriage scared me and the idea of marrying Alexia scared me, but I loved her. It seemed logical to me.

Just as I entered the living room again, the door to the garage opened. Alexia practically came running into the house. She was mumbling sentences and random words in Spanish. I only knew the difference because of how broken up her sentences were.

"And then—"

"Ale," I held onto her arm as she started undoing the snap of her jeans. "We're okay. We still have plenty of time. Are you late? Yes, but I wasn't worried."

She stopped putting the white slacks on and looked up at me. "You were worried. Don't lie."

I laughed, "Okay, sure. But you're here now. Was traffic bad?"

"No. We should be fine." I handed Alexia her blouse while she took her Barcelona shirt off. "Do you have all of the papers ready?"

"Yep. All on the counter. I texted—well, messaged Mapí on Instagram. She and Ingrid were getting ready to go, so they should be on their way."

"Great. Muy bien." I watched her struggle with the buttons. "What are these—oh." I began buttoning her shirt. "Gracias."

"Hmm. Roll your sleeves a bit."

I finished her blouse as she rolled her sleeves halfway up her forearm. I was so focused on her shirt that it caught me off guard when she tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"You look...perfect. So perfect, mi amor."

"Thank you," I whispered, biting my lower lip.

I hooked my fingers into the loops of her pants and pulled her to my lips. I leaned in first and connected our lips.

She gently pulled away. "We'll celebrate tonight, sí? Let's go get married."

"You take Nala and get into the car. I'll go grab the papers off the counter."

There were a few brief minutes of rushing around the house to make sure everything was in order before leaving.

I got into the car and put in the address for the courthouse while Alexia started the car and got us going in the right direction.

"Are you upset we chose not to tell your mom and sister?"

"No," Ale laced her fingers with mine. She glanced down at the navigation system. "She would've freaked out if we'd told her."

"Do you think she would've been against us getting married so soon?"

"I...I think that when you have a feeling—a feeling that tells you your partner is the one, then who are you to go against it?"

"I love that," I kissed her hand. "But you didn't answer my question."
