So this is going to be another split chapter. The song is Cryin' like a B*tch by Godsmack.... Enjoy!
Grace's POV:
"Girl I wish you would sit still you're driving my crazy! The fight is going to start soon enough." I frowned at Adria who sat on the couching sipping on a cold coke looking like she didn't have a care in the world. While I, on the other hand, had so much nervous anticipation built up that I simply couldn't sit still. All week the anticipation had been building, like an electrical current beneath my skin, zinging through my veins. Now it was the day of the fight and the air was thick with it, almost to the point of smothering. I was at the Rogue Wolves compound, everyone was gathered in the main room with the bar while we waited. Jaeger had volunteered to go with Ty to the fight as his attendant but they hadn't left just yet. The fight wouldn't start for another hour or so. Somewhere down one of the hallways I hear the door open and shut before the sound of boots clomping down it. It wasn't until the familiar shadow stopped in front of me and crouched that I knew it was Ty. I felt his rough hands on my hands, brushing over them soothingly before giving them a squeeze. "Breathe and try to relax, sweetheart." He spoke softly and only to me in that tone that had me semi relaxing where I sat on the couch.
While I was still aware of Adria beside me and the others in the room my focus remained wholly on Ty. I let out a soft sigh and gave him a halfhearted smile, it was all that I could manage. "I know, I just wish you didn't have to do it at all." In answer he grabbed one of my hands and held it up to his face so that I could feel the roguish grin stretch across it. How could he be so calm about all this? Personally I felt like screaming and throwing a temper tantrum before begging him not to go through with it. But I didn't. All I could do was sit there with my hand against his face. "I know, Gracie, but this is just a walk in the park for me. I'll be back before you know it. When I get back we'll settle down and have another movie marathon after you kiss my wounds all better." I flush at his teasing words and he chuckles before leaning forward and giving me a short kiss before he pressed something into my hand. From the feel of it and the shape of it I knew exactly what they were. The sunglasses he'd given me the very first time we'd met at the strip mall.
I give him a little scowl and he chuckles at my reaction to the expression on my face. "You thought you were being sneaky but I found them the day after the BBQ." He leaned forward until I felt his lips brush my air causing me to shiver. When he spoke it was a deep rumble in my ear that had me going completely pliant. "I gave these to you for a reason, sweetheart. If I find them again I will tan your backside." Liquid fire shot through my veins at his words, I can feel the flush that was on my face spread down my neck to other parts of my body. It took everything I had not to fan myself. Before I can respond in any sort of way his hand is gone and he's rising to his feet his knees popping with the motion. "Behave yourself and don't let Adria get you into too much trouble." Grateful for the distraction I give him an impish smile and a wink. "No promises." Ty growls something out before his shadow disappears. Another more leaner shadow stops in front of me and pats me on the shoulder in what I think is supposed to be a comforting gesture.
"It'll be okay, Grace. I've seen West fight, he has a better than good chance at winning." Jaeger's voices reaches me and I nod at him. I remember the night I was nearly sexually assaulted in the alley of Sugar's. Though I couldn't see what was going on, I could hear flesh meeting flesh. The crunch of bone echoed in my ears and made the color in my face leech away. A growl echoes in my ears before I hear the sound of flesh meeting flesh. "Shut up, Jaeger." The words were nearly a snarl that had me automatically shrinking back against the couch. There was a short muttered conversation before Jaeger's shadow disappeared. I felt a calloused thumb brush against my clammy cheek comfortingly. "It'll be okay, baby. I promise." I swallow hard and nod my head unable to speak. My mind flooding with the sounds from that night at Sugar's. I felt the press of his lips on my forehead before he was completely gone.
