"I can't believe we're here practicing this human tradition... What was it called again? Ah, true, gossip, just right after Steven explained why not to," Bismuth's words were filled with guilt, Lapis looked unapologetic, and Peridot struggled to contain her laughter.
"Nah, we're only talking about people within this group... And the rest of the Crystal Gems... But I don't think they'd mind, right?" Peridot's gaze turned curious as she considered your ponder.
"Well, human-who-happens-to-be-Steven's-sister-and-I-will-not-call-by-her-name, they won't know what we don't tell. But my calculations express otherwise, as the perma-fusion will be able to know and confront us if she wanted to, which she probably won't as she's got way more important things to do than to confront us." And there was Peridot's smile, the one to tell you she was the most great and lovable, also accompanied by Lapis' usual scoff.
"Perma-fusion? Who is that?" You inquired, their confounded expressions as an answer.
"Garnet...?" Bismuth stated, the three still staring at you blankly.
"Really??? Why do y'all call her that?" You left them even more puzzled.
"Well, your unacknowledgement is clear. Basically-" Peridot started obliviously, ignoring Lapis' and Bismuth's signals to stop. It wasn't until Lapis aggressively covered her mouth that she ceased talking.
"What did Garnet tell us?!" Lapis shouted into Peridot's ear, making her shiver.
"Basically- We don't know the origin of that nickname," Bismuth ended in her place. You leaned back in your seat tiredly, covering your face with your hands.
"Clearly, you gems are not good at communication," you sighed, no matter who you asked, the result was always the same. Of course, Garnet could see it all, she prepared everyone.
"No, maybe we aren't. We're sorry," and Lapis' tone felt genuinely apologetic, making it hard for you to stay mad at her.
Why did the gems even bring you to the barn? Surprise, surprise, they didn't want to tell you that either!
Amethyst was doing... something. You couldn't quite tell as she showed you her back. "Hey, Ame. Whatcha up to?" You walked over to her, catching her off guard.
"Stop!" She immediately turned around and hid whatever she was doing behind her, then moved towards you and pushed you away.
"You guys really need to chill out," a protest that fell on deaf ears.
"No, what we need is to talk somewhere else." And she literally took you to the opposite side of the field, not too far away from where Garnet and Pearl were working. "So?"
"So what?" You replied, crossing your arms over your chest, a gesture you might have learned from somebody else.
"What did you want to tell me?" She asked, placing a hand on her hip.
"Nothing, I just wanted to check on you, see if you needed any help?" You tilted your head slightly in curiosity.
"I didn't. That's it?" She put her other hand on her hip as well.
"Well, yeah. What were you expecting?" Although you didn't unwrap your arms, you somewhat loosened the grip.
"I dunno, that you had a really cool thing to tell me?" She wasn't angry; at least it didn't feel like it. She was annoyed, but not by you.
"Nope, sorry," with that, you glanced over her shoulder and saw Garnet and Pearl... Dancing? "Oh wait, I changed my mind."
"Wha-?" She turned around to look at them, watching their dance as well.
You walked closer to where they were. "Can we go look?"
"Uh... Are you sure?" She followed right behind you.
You ignored what she said and continued walking towards them, observing the dance.
It was really... sensual? You had this strange feeling inside you that you couldn't identify, it made you feel uncomfortable and out of place.
Suddenly, a blinding light filled the area, preventing you from opening your eyes for a few seconds. When you could finally see again, you were faced with a... Gigantic woman?!
Both you and Amethyst had a clear view of her, still too far away for her to notice either of you. She swung her hammer with precise yet brutal force and did something... She had Pearl's gem on her forehead and Garnet's gems in her similar-gloved hands.
When she finished, Garnet and Pearl reappeared in a peculiar position, with Garnet holding Pearl against her forehead in a rather... strange manner.
"What in the world was that?!" You exclaimed, nudging Amethyst's arm harder than intended.
"Look, I know it might be shocking, I know it might be weird. But I've been told not to tell you." Only this time, it genuinely felt like she regretted it.
"By who? Garnet? C'mon, I don't get all this dumb secrecy. I don't care if it's to protect me or something like that," while waiting for an answer, you turned around when you heard Pearl calling you both.
"Thank you for helping us carry all of this," Pearl said, with you, Amethyst, and Garnet following close behind.
"It's no problem," you replied, slightly struggling.
"You're too slow," Amethyst teased, quickly passing you.
Eventually, Garnet caught up to you. You tried to walk faster, but it was really heavy. "I can help you."
Before you could even react, she grabbed the weight from your hands and carried it as if it were nothing. You couldn't help but whisper "Wow," after seeing how effortlessly she handled it, and she clearly heard it.
"You're welcome," she said, passing you by as well. You quickly reached her and continued walking.
