"Hurry! The gems could walk out the temple door at any second!" You whispered shouted, waiting for Steven, who was running towards you.

"Maybe if you kept quiet, they wouldn't hear us," he protested as he closed the mosquito net door.

"Fair enough," you admitted once you both reached the car. Funny thing, the gems gave you the transport you'd use to disobey them.

"Can I choose the music?" Steven asked, making you sigh.

"Okay," you finally replied. You probably should've concentrated more on the road.

"What time will we get there? More or less?" He inquired as he admired the beautiful sunrise visible.

"Uh... 9 am, I'm guessing. We have to be quick, remember. We get in, we get out." All your words, well, in vain is a strong word, but...

"I'd like to know how exactly," you heard an uninvited voice behind you.

Her accent was too enticing, even in a situation like that.

You stopped the car and moved it to the side all of a sudden. "What the frog are you doing here?!" Both you and Steven turned to see Garnet seated in the backseat. She had been hiding the whole time.

"Take us home. Now," she ordered. You'd have time to be mad when you got back.

And that was it, a quiet drive joined by the two of them and an uncomfortable silence no one dared to break.

You finally reached the beach house. "Okay, what in the actual...?!" You were about to exclaim, then you remembered Steven was still there. "Frog."

Her typical stoic demeanor seemed to be the only one she'd be showing. "You're grounded," she declared, then turned back to Steven. "Look, Steven. I understand. You always want the best for everyone, but I thought that after all these years you'd have learned that lying to me is not a win. You're also grounded, but for a shorter time."

You didn't believe what you'd just heard. "What?!"

She gave you a death glare. "I'll discuss the details with the gems later. Steven, now go to your room. I need to talk to your sister."

"This is just amazing," you scoffed as you threw yourself onto the couch. Steven had left you alone, and Garnet did not look anything similar to friendly.

"It is, considering you know perfectly you knew you were forbidden to leave." She grunted something to herself that you weren't able to understand. She walked right in front of you, crossing her arms over her chest.

"So what? Are you going to punch me?" Maybe you should stop thinking about how you wouldn't actually mind.

"I'm not in the mood for you to insult me." She adjusted her shades. "Not only did you put yourself in danger, but also Steven." She leaned in. "I don't know what punishment the gems and I will choose, but it won't be a light one."

Of course you had to have a crush on the everything-ruiner, as you always did. Her curves were just magic to you. "I think I'd rather the punch."

She wasn't angry; she was furious. "You are an adult now. It isn't so hard to start acting like one." She looked to her surroundings before moving even closer to you. "And not everything about adults is that thing you watch online."

You blushed as you averted your gaze. That was inappropriate. "I'm sorry, is that what you want to hear? Because I am."

Suddenly, her rage vanished. You were being honest, and she knew you were. "Yes. That's... It." She quietly sighed, glancing around the room once more. She took a seat next to you.

"You're invading my bed." You mumbled against your pillow.

She put a hand on your back and caressed it. "I'm sorry for being so hard on you today, but I need you to listen to me. I just want the best for you, both of you."

Her mood changes didn't appeal to you at all. Why was she being so nice?

"I know..." You sighed. "I'm sorry."

She withdrew her hand, looking at you one more time. "Enjoy the rest of your... Morning, I guess."

She was right; it was really early. As hard as you tried to fall asleep, it was no use.

"Why am I frogging in love with that frogging bipolar? That's not offensive, is it?"

All your thoughts were interrupted by a rather loud conversation going on upstairs in Steven's room.

"I think you should tell her, she's going to be mad if you don't," Pearl's voice resonated.

"Yeah, if I were her and you didn't tell me this, I would probably be." You heard Steven add.

"I already checked for those future outcomes, and believe me, it doesn't end well," Garnet said in the distance. Why were you always eavesdropping on such weird conversations?

Looking to your feet, you saw Cat Steven curled up next to you. You smiled softly at her cuteness.

"A cat's life must be much easier," you got off the bed. You didn't even have breakfast before leaving, so you walked to the kitchen.

You heard someone going down the steps. It was the four gems, presumably having finished a debate on a subject you didn't catch.

"Hey, Ame. I'm making bacon pancakes, want some?" You turned to Amethyst with a grin.

She looked at you from top to bottom with the most displeased expression ever, she shook her head and retreated to her room. Rude.

"I want bacon pancakes!" Steven answered, returning the smile to your face. Pearl and Garnet admiring closely behind.

"We can't punish someone as sweet as that," Pearl whispered to Garnet.

"We can't let her get away with whatever she wants," she protested.

"Then just talk to her! It will help much more than just hiding things from her only because," she prepared her hands. "It's dangerous for her," she mocked with her fingers.

"You have no idea what the consequences could lead-" her words trailed off with the laugh Steven elicited from your lips.

"I'm sure she wouldn't even be able to hurt a fly," Pearl patted Garnet's shoulder. "Don't hurt her, okay?"

That was uncalled for.

Garnet stole one last glance at you before returning to her room herself.
