This one is a little ramble-y I apologise 😭

Ambers eyes opened, and she was met with the same purple sky. Well, sometimes it was red. Sometimes... what is time? She's unsure if it's been two days, two weeks, two years, or two decades. The last time she had seen a blue sky, beaming with the light of the morning... it must have been so long ago, but she hadn't aged.

Why can't she age? Maybe it would give her an end to the bitter air and cold stone. As much as she could ponder, she'd never get an answer. She'd asked herself these questions countless times, until it was all she had to think about.

Even if she may not be alone, there is not that much comfort in a lingering presence if it's what's keeping you captive in the first place. Her captor could sleep for multiple days, or years. Whatever the number! She tries to think clearly during the times that her captor is awake, and her mind blanks at the appearance of the static of questions repeated over, and over, and over again.

Still, she makes an effort because it's not as if this captor has been particularly rude to her... and of course, her captor was different to the other ones she'd heard of! Amber didn't feel the need to eat food either, but she was offered it... even if it did end up being completely inedible when she did accept! If her captor was truly a bad person... god, whatever she was, then she would surely never ask if she was hungry? She'd also never trust her with her name! Ei, a lovely name... and trust, oh how she adores how she trusts Amber!

Well, she hasn't told her much, but she did tell her her name, and that should be enough. The first time she had asked for Eis name, she was not given it.

Ahh, the first day she had been in the Plane of Euthmiya... she remembers the fire she held in her heart, now extinguished by an overload of despair. Her despair was useless, though. It got her no further to answers and no closer to home. Now that she understands with Eis guidance, she can accept that her home is here. It will always be here. For Ei, and for eternity.

And eternity.

Eternity?

Ei always seems to repeat that word in every sentence. She said it the most on the day she had arrived, even if there was no communication between the two on that day.

That day. That night? That evening?

She can't stop thinking! She can't stop thinking about everything, and perhaps it'll always be that way. She repeats every thought, and she changes the words, and she... and she? Who even is she anymore?

Well, she is Amber, but not Amber. She is who she used to be, but not, at the same time. Somewhere deep inside, the voice of a frightened girl echoes in her memories, but it's so far away now that there's no turning back.

Either way, she wouldn't leave even if she could. Ei would be so lonely... Amber was lonely here too at first as she was unable to talk to Ei. And when she did start talking to Ei, all she felt was unsettled and controlled. Looking back now, it was so irrational! Ei wanted nothing but the best for her, and she was afraid of such an opportunity to become better...

She's so glad Ei appeared in her life, since even if the time makes everything feel cold, and empty, and bitter, and hopeless, Ei would always reassure her that it was all to protect her. Discomforts were temporary, but if she could stay with Ei then bliss could be permanent!

Well, it's not a question of if this bliss would fully take hold of her, it's a question of when.
