courtney was laughing with geoff, sitting on the kitchen counter with him until she heard the kitchen door open. she turned her head around and felt her stomach tie in a not. her face went pale and she turns to geoff, who looks worried for her.
so he did decide to come.

she completely forgot about him after taking to geoff in the kitchen after gwen came to the party. she was having such a great time catching up and was forgetting about duncan and gwen, and just living in the moment, until now of course.

and there's so much left to say, i guess i'm just the bigger guy

duncan and gwen walk toward the fridge in front of courtney, as she looks to geoff and he gives her a slight nudge.

and there's too much on my mind, that i don't even want to try

she sighs and says hello. this catches duncan off guard as he turns around holding two beers in his hands.

guess it's not far from the ordinary, they do say love is blind

duncan looks to gwen and back at courtney as she has a smile on her face, but not a proper one.

"hey." duncan responds with a minimal expression. courtney's stomach ties in an even tighter knot. she looks at gwen who looks like she really wants to leave. geoff gives gwen a little nod to tell her to leave, as he gets off the counter and does the same.

can't remember how to say your name

courtney worries at geoff leaving but takes a breath as she steps down from the counter. "so.." she pauses. "how have you been?" she can't help but smile at seeing him again, regardless of the sickening feeling inside.

let alone count all the freckles on your face

"good. you?" duncan responds coldly, but feels a smile tugging at the corners of his lips and has a warm sensation on the inside.

a distant memory i used to know

courtney notices and smiles even wider. "i hate to admit it but i missed talking to you." she says, but regrets it as she feels it may be a bit awkward now.

oh, i guess that's just the way things go

he continued smiling. "me too.". she was happy with the answer and without thinking gave him a hug. "i really missed you," courtney said and took a pause. "and i was dreading seeing you today, but it doesn't feel that way anymore. i hope that's not weird."

duncan returned the hug to courtney. it felt quick but all the feelings he used to feel for her came back, with guilt of breaking up with her, more so cheating on her with gwen. "yeah, me too." he said.

can't remember when you said you called

she pulled away from the hug and looked to the pocket of her jeans and pulled out her phone and began removing the phone case to remove the picture. "here." she handed the photo to him. he looked at it and back at courtney with no reply.

miles away and it was still my fault

"i remember this." he grinned. "me too." she responded. he handed the photo back to her and she placed it back and her phone case, and put her phone back in her pocket. courtney blushed but looked down to hide it. she hated this, what happened to the girl that swore she would not speak a word to him?
