After a while Rick was back without Sophia, so he took Shane, Daryl, and Glenn to look for her again, with the hope that Dixon's tracking skills and just more people in general would help. And Charlie believed in that, she really did, because she just wanted her back like everyone else. She just couldn't imagine life without the little girl who was making up fairytales or doing origami back in the camp. But she lost her hope a little when Glenn walked out of the woods and made them move cars that were still in their way and search for supplies.
Charlie was standing next to a car with a pack, so she could take some supplies from there. She was focused on her job, a little drowned in her thoughts, but as she looked up, she noticed something near the road that made her want to cry even more. There was a billboard. It wasn't as big as those in the city but still could be visible from the road- more of a banner. There was a girl that was smiling from it. Her hair was perfect, her makeup was perfect and her smile looked as if she really wanted to smile so unnaturally wide. The same girl that was on that billboard was now looking at it, with bags under her eyes and in dirty clothes. She came back to the moment when her biggest problem was a pimple or those stupid dark circles from the lack of sleep- lack of sleep as just two fewer hours than normal.
She wanted to go back in time or meet herself from the past and just slap her in the face. Or stab her in the face. She was so stupid.
"You worry about her," said Glenn as he came to her and leaned on the car, snapping her from the train of thoughts.
Charlie looked at him and nodded her head, biting her lips. "You don't know where she is?"
"Rick told her to wait in a cover, but she probably got scared and ran somewhere," he said. "I really hope we will find her. What with that face?" Glenn furrowed his eyebrows.
"It's just...finding missing kids was hard even before this whole thing. And now it's just harder." she sighed. "She was the only good thing in Carol's life, Glenn," Charlie whispered. "I don't even want to think what will happen if..."
"Why aren't we all out there looking? Why are we moving cars?"
Charlie picked up her box and headed closer to the RV with Glenn following her closely. They heard Shane's voice. "Going back's going to be easier than trying to get through this mess."
"We're not going anywhere till my daughter gets back."
"Hey, that goes without saying."
"Rick and Daryl, they're on it, okay? Just a matter of time." Charlie said and tried to smile as reassuringly as she could.
"Can't be soon enough for me," said Andrea. "I'm still freaked out from the herd that passed us by, or whatever you'd call it."
At her words, Carol just gave a look before turning away to go back to her previous spot. Charlie looked at Andrea. "Yeah. Thank God that Sophia is calm out there, alone in the woods. Not scared at all."
