She furrowed her eyebrows and turned to scan the horizon. The sun was high on the sky, so she had to squint her eyes and it was still hard to make out who was calling her from the distance. Suddenly, Charlie's heart leaped as she spotted a familiar silhouette running towards her. With tears in her eyes, she rushed to meet him.Without hesitation, Carl broke into a run, his footsteps pounding against the earth as he closed the distance between them. And then, in a rush of emotion, he was upon her, wrapping her in a fierce embrace that threatened to swallow her whole. Tears welled in Charlie's eyes as she returned his embrace.
As they stood locked in each other's arms, Charlie felt a sense of peace settle over her, knowing that he was now next to her again."I thought I lost you," he sobbed into her chest.
"Me too," she whispered through the squeezed throat. She closed her eyes and kissed the top of his head.
Once Carl let go of her, she started looking around. Charlie's heart raced with anticipation. After period of wandering, surviving, and hoping against hope, she was finally on the brink of reuniting with her friends. Bob breathed with relief when their eyes met and he almost choked her to death with the strength of the hug. Glenn almost cried while he saw her. But different hands were first to wrap around Charlie.
"Maggie," Charlie whispered, her voice choked with emotion. Tenderness that caught Charlie off guard. For a moment, she stood there, lost in the embrace of her long-lost friend, the warmth of Maggie's presence melting away the walls she had built around her heart."I thought I'd never see you again."
Maggie pulled back, her eyes shining with tears. "I thought the same."
Charlie saw a reflection of her own happiness mirrored in Maggie's gaze.
"It's okay, now."
As soon as Greene stepped back, another figure appeared in front of her. It was Michonne, a small smile playing on her lips as she was fighting the tears. There was a relief at the sight of Michonne standing before her once more, as she was not just a friend; she was a sister. Charlie found herself struggling to contain the flood of emotions threatening to overwhelm her.
"Michonne," she breathed finally, her voice trembling with emotion.
Michonne's eyes softened, mirroring emotions reflected in Charlie's own. Without a word, she opened her arms, and Charlie stepped forward, wrapping herself in the embrace she had longed for since their separation.
As they held each other tight, Charlie's tears flowed freely, but they were no longer tears of sadness or despair. They were tears of gratitude, of relief, of the overwhelming sense of love and connection that bound them together, stronger than ever before. "I thought it was over."
"You silly girl," Michonne chuckled and pulled her closer. In that embrace, Charlie found solace, a refuge from the storms that raged around them. And as she clung to Michonne, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together now - once again.
But amidst the joy of their reunion, Charlie's heart ached for one more reunion, one that felt like a missing piece of her soul. And then, as if summoned by her thoughts, he appeared. For a moment, they simply stared at each other, the weight of their shared history hanging heavy in the air. Then their faces broke out in a smile. "Charlie," Glenn breathed, his voice barely a whisper. "I thought I'd lost you."
Tears welled up in Charlie's eyes as she threw herself into his arms, clinging to him as if he were her lifeline. "I thought I'd lost you too," she choked out.
They held each other tight, their embrace a silent vow to never let go again. Glenn was more than just a friend—he was family, a brother she had chosen in a world torn apart by chaos. "You can't get rid of me that easily," Glenn replied, strengthening the hug. "Who else is gonna keep you entertained?"
