The party was insane. Jungkook has only ever heard about masquerade-themed parties. Seeing it in real life was definitely a life experience.
The charity gala was crowded with industry's all the important people in attendance. Jungkook gasped upon seeing all the celebrities flocking inside the venue. Though hidden under fancy masks, it was really easy to identify some.
Also, his best friend Kwan kept telling him who was who. He had been working in such parties for months now and promised the money was worth it. The waiting job was easy. He just had to walk around, supplying refreshments to the guests.
The music was good and everything was so fancy. It definitely wasn't something he could ever get used to. He occasionally sipped water whenever he went to the kitchen. His legs ached from standing on his feet for too long.
A few more hours and this would be over. He couldn't wait to get to his dorm. He'd contacted Mr. Park earlier and told him he'd shift early today.
His father was dead and gone. There was no point in holding on to that place that held a lot of memories. If not now, he'd have to leave in three weeks anyway. Why not now? At least, he'd have a comfortable place to stay and could save travel allowance.
Even though this hotel was only a fifteen minute ride on a subway and he was glad he chose to shift today. However, his limbs were tired. Exhaustion was nothing new to Jungkook. He was used to it, but combined physical exhaustion with emotional drain, he just wanted to curl into a ball and never leave his bed.
Jungkook has made several rounds since evening. He knew nothing about the lives of these rich people. They huddled in little groups, talking to each other or networking as they liked to call. Then there were some on the tables.
The auction was the highlight of the evening. There were several items that were being auctioned and Jungkook would never understand why each item was priced so high. But they said it was for charity.
The event started at six in the evening, but just as the clock struck ten, a hush fell among the crowd and everyone craned their neck to look at the entrance. Even Jungkook stood to check who just arrived.
His breath almost knocked out of his lungs when he finally noticed who it was. The omega sucked in a sharp breath because Park Jimin looked unrealistically handsome even from a distance.
"Damn! That's him," Kwan hissed in his ear.
Jungkook's hand flew to his face, thankful for the mask. He was the only guest who did not wear a mask. His lazy gaze scanned the crowd and Jungkook stood frozen on his spot.
He saw several people murmur excitedly among themselves and heard Jiseung's name being brought up a few times. That was enough to rouse him from reality. He pivoted on his heel and went back to the kitchen, happily swapping his work for rinsing glasses.
Jungkook didn't realize how many hours he was inside washing dishes and doing whatnots in the kitchen. He was diligent in his work and no one bothered him or asked why he was here. Kwan had come in a few times but went on about his work. The omega was thankful that Kwan didn't ask him any questions.
It was around twelve when Jungkook finally got a breather. His shift was finally over. Someone took over and he wiped his hands using a kitchen towel before going in search for Kwan. He tried calling him but it went unanswered.
He scanned the ballroom and didn't see Kwan anywhere. The number of guests has thinned and only a few remained. They were lost in their bubble, either talking in a corner or dancing to the music. Jungkook tried calling Kwan again and frowned when it went unanswered again.
