[Yoongi's side]

"Min Yoongi stop beating yourself challenge: failed." Seokjin came to sit beside him with another serving of ramen he made after finishing six other bowls together. "You revealed you're courting him, returned the kiss he gave you first. It's done. There's no going back. He was sober when you did it and he knows."

Yoongi sighed, looking distraught as ever. He traced the rim of the whiskey glass as his distressed scent filled his apartment.

"It's not your fault," Seokjin stressed. "It's not his fault either. Relationship is complicated. You guys need to just sit and talk no matter how hard this is. This push and pulls isn't gonna help."

"I wish." Yoongi threw his head back, staring at the ceiling. "Why won't he understand, hyung? I've loved him for a long time. Why can't he see what I see in him?"

"I've been waiting to hear that confession for years. See...I even got a few grey hairs while waiting." Seokjin pointed at his head. "So how long are you stewing in this alone? Are you gonna open up at least now? Because pretending I know nothing is really hard and holding back from saying something is even harder." He gave him a pointed look. "As your best friend, I reserve the first right to know everything good and the bad about your life, and make fun of you before patting your back and tell you I got you."

Yoongi shook his head with a scoff. "Almost ten years."

"What the—" Seokjin scoffed. "You could have already mated and had two or three pups."

Yoongi rolled his eyes but said nothing.

"When did you realize you love him?" Seokjin took a big bite, chewing it.

Yoongi slanted a glance at him and a soft smile breached his lips. First, since the two came here. "Ten years ago, we were both heading to the airport together. I was going for a meeting and he was headed for a fashion show."

Seokjin hummed.

"On the way, there was an accident." Yoongi exhaled, gaze flicking back to the ceiling. "A car in front of us jumped the signal and hit a pedestrian. We went out to check. The victim was a regular omega and was pregnant. While the others called an ambulance and waited, Taehyung rushed to her and tried to stop the bleeding. He just removed his suit jacket and held it under her head. That suit was worth fifteen thousand dollars, but that's Kim Taehyung." He scoffed. "The shock had caused her to go into an early labor and it was a mess. You know what he did?" He glanced at Seokjin. "Just looked at me and yelled at me, 'Hyung, what are you looking at? Come, give me a hand." Yoongi stretched his hand. "He said, 'Help me. She needs us.' Then we both put her in the back of our car. Taehyung sat behind, holding her and reassuring her the entire time as we rushed to the hospital in his car."

Seokjin chuckled fondly. "Of course, that'd be him. He never thinks about himself."

Yoongi nodded. "He could have left after we admitted her in the hospital, but he waited until the doctors told him the mother and the pup was safe. He even paid the hospital bills. We both missed our flight. He missed the fashion show. The designer threatened to sue him for ruining his show. He was the show stopper, you see? Taehyung just told him to fuck off and told him to do whatever he wanted."

"And you fell in love," Seokjin commented.

"I must have fell in love long back, but I realized I was in love that day and it wasn't just an attraction," Yoongi said. "Underneath that boisterous exterior, he always hid the softest, precious version of himself. He considers it as his vulnerability and never lets anyone see it. In our circle, no one is as selfless as him." He sat up. "I knew he didn't believe in relationship or commitments. So I never planned to reveal my love for him. It was never supposed to go like this."

Seokjin pointed the chopsticks at him. "And then he marked you."

This time there was a different emotion on Yoongi's face. "I was just minding my business, but he came up to me and told me I looked extremely handsome that night. He wanted to dance with me. I didn't want to but he dragged to the dance floor. Then just like that...he was all over me. I kinda lost myself, hyung. I guess I should have stopped him, but I felt so weak. I knew a sober Taehyung would never do something like that."

"It's not your fault."

"I didn't stop it." Yoongi closed his eyes. "I often think if I could have done something, but that night I felt so powerless and my wolf was enticed. We both felt as if we were being held captive. That kiss came out of nowhere. When I pushed him away in shock, he told me that he liked me a lot and complained why I wouldn't like him back." Sadness filled his scent. "I just..."

"I feel you."

"I couldn't help it. All I could think was that he liked me. One thing led to the other and the next thing I knew, he was scenting me aggressively, telling me I should only smell like him. My wolf was too delirious with his pheromones clouding our senses. He bit me and before the shock even registered, he'd deepened the bite and bonded our souls." He exhaled. "But the worst part was that he didn't remember any of it in the morning. I waited for him to remember something once he got past the hangover, but nothing. Two days later, he was boasting about another escapade in the group chat."

"Yoongi-ah, that's... I don't know how to comfort you." Pain reflected in his expression.

Yoongi smiled. "I was hurt. Not gonna lie. My wolf felt like shit. Our mate, who marked us for eternity was just out there whoring and the rejection cut deeper. We felt incompetent." He sipped the whiskey.

"I think you should tell him about your mark." Seokjin pointed at his neck. "You can't suffer through this pain alone. If he knows, he'll stop. Taehyung isn't a heartless person. He's just an idiot."

Yoongi chuckled. "Don't worry, hyung. He can't hurt me even if he wants to."

Seokjin frowned. "This kiss isn't gonna stop him from doing what he always does. He'll probably convince himself with some bullshit and go back to his old ways. You need to do something. I mean one of you should. Definitely it's not him. So I'm putting my money on you."

Yoongi slanted a glance at him, looking relaxed. "His wolf is imprinted on me. He cannot get hard for another wolf even if he wants," he told him.

"What?" Seokjin frowned. "How do you know?"

"He told me."

Seokjin dropped the chopsticks to face him fully. "When? Just how much I don't know about you, Yoongi? This is betrayal!"

"A few weeks ago." Yoongi's smile widened and he patted on Seokjin's knee. "That day after we argued in the group chat, he texted me to tell me he didn't sleep with any of them. He said it was embarrassing that he couldn't get hard anymore and asked for my help."

"Whoa! And that knucklehead hasn't figured it out yet?" Seokjin shook his head in disbelief.

Yoongi shrugged. "Papa Park texted me, telling me to do something about it. But I guess, he must have talked to him too because he started avoiding me after that and began to drop daffodil bouquets for me."

"And you began to court him."

He nodded. "I did."

Seokjin smile. "You know what? It's not even complicated like I thought it was anymore. Go and get your mate." He slapped at his shoulder. "Jimin will make sure he won't run off again. This time make him understand what he means to you and show him what it is to be your mate." He squeezed his shoulder tightly. "This should be our celebratory drink, not the one of sadness." He stood. "Because you..." he pointed at him "...just showed that loose cannon called your mate, who's his alpha." His best friend winked. "Cheer up, wolf. You got this. More drink?"

Yoongi's scent had cleared a bit and he nodded. Suddenly he wasn't distraught anymore. Seokjin was right. He was on pursuit of his mate and he couldn't let anything cause a setback. The goal was to win his mate's heart and he was going to do that at any cost. If Taehyung was imprinted on him like he was, then there was nothing that could stop his wolf from reacting to him.

"Why not?"

I'm gonna get him.
