454. [NEXT DAY]
455.
It was two days later when Shin Kang-de stopped by Jimin's office. Jimin was on the phone, speaking to one of the suppliers. He cocked his head to the side, motioning him to sit on an empty chair opposite to him.
"Alright, let's catch up later. Keep me posted. Sure." Jimin ended the call and glanced at Na-Ra's father. "Mr. Shin, what brings you here today?"
"Ah, nothing big. It's been a while we caught up so I thought I'll stop by."
Jimin knew that wasn't the case but he didn't show it to him. "That's kind of you. What would you like to drink?" He glanced at his wrist watch elegantly. "I got ten minutes before my next meeting."
"I'm fine." Mr. Shin grinned. "How are things with you?"
"Busy." Jimin smiled, grabbing the phone to call his secretary. "Bring me the files for the next meeting. Did you prepare the reports I asked for?" He hummed, listening to his secretary's response. "Alright. Bring it over." Then he turned to Mr. Shin. "What were you saying?"
"Ah, nothing." Mr. Shin laughed awkwardly. "I should have guessed how busy you might be. I heard you cancelled your business trip and came back immediately."
"Hmm...You're here to know why I'm back early," Jimin deduced.
"Just wondering if there was an unexpected issue." Kang-de sat back eying him expectantly.
Shin Kang-de, in his eyes, was still the same man, who was always nice and kind to him, despite his living style and the selfish business moves. Jimin thought of shutting him out once and for all but decided against it. He didn't have to be rude unless they were rude in the first place. As much as he disliked Mr. Shin, he hasn't done anything explicitly to warrant such behaviour.
Jimin shrugged. "Something came up that needed my immediate attention. It's all good now." There was a knock on his door and his secretary entered with the files he asked for. "Thank you. Leave them here."
"Yes, sir." The secretary bowed, before taking his leave.
"It's just..." Kang-de drawled. "Na-Ra has been behaving a bit strange. It feels as if something is bothering her lately. She hasn't gone to office in two days and I heard she came to see you the last time. Did you two have a fight or something?"
Jimin reached for one of the files and flipped it open. "A minor disagreement," he replied. "I wouldn't call it a fight. No voices raised or no insults thrown."
"Oh." Kang-de's expression fell. "I see." He cleared his throat. "Na-Ra fancies you a lot since she turned a teenager. I guess that's why she's upset. Your mother said you haven't responded to our marriage proposal. You two grew up together and know each other so well. Why don't you give her a chance?"
Jimin sighed. He wasn't expecting them to approach him directly with this proposal. "We aren't a good match and I don't see Na-Ra that way. As for why she's upset, I think you should really talk to her and see what the real reason is. Maybe there's something else that's truly upsetting than my refusal to marry her you know," Jimin supplied. "This isn't the first time I have rejected her idea of marriage so I don't think she's moody because of that. She always knew where she stands with me in terms of a marriage."
"Oh." There was barely any hint of smile on his face now. He looked as if he had a lot in his mind to say but held back. "I see. The board of directors are really curious to see what would become of the future of the Park Group. They don't think a promiscuous young alpha purely led by his physical urges is fit to take over once the chairman retires."
"Chairman Park isn't going to retire anytime soon," Jimin stated coolly. "And I don't see a reason for a change of management in another five years. Not sure why they would worry about my lifestyle when it doesn't concern them or the company's future."
"The investors and shareholders are worried," Kang-de said. "Every time you get into a scandal there's a significant drop in our share prices."
"And yet every time I make a public appearance, there's a considerable spike in the share prices," he replied in the same tone. "Uncle Shin, you out of all people should know how young wolves are. I don't intend to settle down for the sake of the others. There hasn't been a scandal in these past few weeks. So tell them to hop off my dick and mind their business."
Shin Kang-de gave him a tight-lipped smile. "That's true. I'll see you later then." He slowly stood.
"Sure. Thanks for stopping by."
Jimin nodded going back to the file and dismissing him at the same time. He could feel his stare on him but didn't bother glancing up.
