I dry heaved as I hugged my white porcelain throne, feeling disgusted with myself. The bathroom floor had been my sanctuary for the past ten hours. Why did I drink the last two shots?
Eleven Hours Ago
After leaving Theo seated at the bar, I walked back to the table and drained my margarita. Then, I ordered more shots. Only minutes after I downed the last shot, I was running to the bathroom and upchucking all the alcohol.
Nina and Athena chased after me, looking worried. I assured them I was fine, but the green pallor of my face didn't give them any relief. And of course, Theo and Alex quickly followed behind them and started banging on the bathroom door. When Athena explained what was going on, Theo rushed to get some plastic bags from a member of the waitstaff. Then, he managed to convince everyone to let him drive me home.
I wasn't pleased with the situation and spent the entire drive complaining, but I was probably just speaking cursive after all the alcohol I'd inhaled.
I crouched on the cold tile floor, begging for mercy, when I startled from a knocking sound.
"Go away," I groaned.
"Thalia, sweetheart, please let me in," Theo pleaded. "You've been in there all night long."
"Why are you still here?"
"I wasn't going to leave you like this, princess. Please Thalia, let me help you. I just called the closest urgent care and they told me they're already open. Let me take you there."
"Fine," I snapped. "But only because I might die if I don't get some help."
Then, I dragged myself off the floor, grabbed onto the bathroom sink, and managed to wash my face and brush my teeth. Once I looked only half dead and not fully dead, I grabbed some vomit bags from the bathroom cabinet and walked out to face Theo. He was standing in the hallway, leaning on the wall as his hands tugged on his hair.
Theo straightened when he noticed me, looking into my eyes with relief. "Sweetheart, how are you?" he murmured.
I shook my head. "Let's just go...please."
I walked past him into the living room, snatched my purse from the couch, and headed out the door to his car. Ten minutes later, we arrived at the urgent care. But, it took another thirty minutes before we were allowed inside an exam room. I breathed a sigh of relief when the doctor finally walked through the door. Of course, he happened to be very good looking, and I looked and felt like crap.
Oh well!
"Hello Ms. Angelos, I'm Dr. Garcia. How are you feeling?" he asked me, with a small smile.
I blew out a breath and looked at him. "Hi Dr. Garcia, I'll be honest with you. I feel like shit," I admitted. "I may have had way too much to drink and can't stop dry heaving. My stomach is completely empty of all its contents, but the rest of my body is not getting with the program."
Dr. Garcia stared at me open-mouthed. Theo was looking pretty shocked as well.
I shrugged my shoulders. "What? Honesty is the best policy." I faced Theo and raised my eyebrows. "I'm always open and honest with everyone. I'll never let anyone believe one thing when I'm feeling something else."
Dr. Garcia cleared his throat and approached his computer, typing something into it. "Very well Ms. Angelos, thank you for clearing that up. I'll set you up with an IV and you'll be feeling better in no time."
I smiled at him. "Thank you so much, doctor."
Forty-five minutes later, we made it back to my apartment and Theo walked me to my door. I was reaching for my keys when Theo caught my attention.
