I watched them rise up
Dusk approached with darkness
That lingered throughout the night
Dawn chased it away
With fears of the forgotten
Yet they rose up
Them human beings
How they smiled and laughed
About themselves
As though their very hearts
Were not ripped from their chests
Each one wore a brave face
Before the other
All believed they suffered more
Than the other
All in pretence covering every scar
Till they saw them no more
I watched them chase dreams to the end
I observed those who let go
And accepted fate as it is
They rose up in the morning
About their lives
Good days bad days
They saw them all
Kicked hard to the ground
Bruised and pained
They rose up still
Still breathing still fighting
And that is what
Amazed me the most.
