Danny shuffled his feet through the school dodging people's sidewards glances.

He pretended not to notice their gazes drift towards his three years old hoodie with faded dirt stains. Or the way they whispered about his dead parents.

It didn't matter to him. Danny grabbed the stuff he needed and turned around only to bump into a familiar face.

He was a known bully, but he was slippery guy. He could cover his tracks and make anyone take his crimes.

Danny pushed past the bully in an attempt to get to class.

"Hey orphan boy!" Mark Terson shouted, yet still, remarkably all the teachers seemed to be deaf.

Mark shoved Danny against the lockers with a metallic thud.

Danny winced. Sure he had been in countless fights with ghosts in the past, but it was a little different when it came to humans. Danny knew how to fight too after walking the streets of Gotham it quickly became a survival skill.

Other than that, he knew Mark would never hit first in a crowded hall. No, not unless they were away from anyone who could expel Mark.

Danny couldn't afford expulsion, especially since he was a scholarship student.

He would've used his powers to escape but he couldn't control them anymore.

Jazz said it was a psychological thing, something about trauma-

"Hey Nerd! You listening?!" Mark asked with a smirk.

"Leave me alone Mark" Danny warned before pushing Mark back and walking away.

"YOUR DEAD ORPHAN!" Mark shouted as Danny walked away.

Danny sighed before entering his class. He had made it a point not to make friends. He had friends. Besides that everyone here was rich, they didn't want to rub elbows with a poor.

"Hey" someone whispered. Danny glanced over.

The kid looked maybe a year older with brown hair and a muscular build.

He gave Danny a half embarrassed grin.

"Can I have a pencil?" He asked.

Danny handed him a pencil.

"I don't think I've seen you before, my name's Dick, yours?" Dick asked.

Danny smiled and chuckled shaking his head. They had been in the same class, sitting next to each other, the entire year.

"It's Danny" he said.

"You lived in Gotham long?" Dick asked.

"Yeah, about two and a half years" Danny said.

"Nice!"

The rest of the class Dick chatted with Danny. Or rather Danny tolerated Dicks endless questions.

As soon as the bell rang Danny got up ready to make a break for it when Dick caught up with him.

"Hey, you have lunch next right?" Dick asked.

"Yes" Danny said starting to get irritated.

"Great! You can sit with me"

Danny growled internally. He was about to push past Dick and tell him to go away when Jazz's voice rang through his head.

"You really need to make some friends Danny" she nagged inside his head.

Danny sighed and gave up. In the very least he could take a picture to prove he had friends.
