Danny sat in class trying to stay awake. He hasn't gotten much sleep.
With all the time wasted during his beatdown he took sleep time and made it into practice time. He hadn't improved really at all though.
As he slurped his coffee he overheard his classmates talking.
In a hushed tone they whispered to each other, clearly gossiping.
"Did you hear about Mark?" One kid asked.
"Oh you mean how he went crazy and thought ghosts were attacking him?" The other kid asked before laughing.
"He might not be crazy, I found this article, apparently ghosts are real!" The kid said showing his friend his phone.
"Do you really believe everything you read?"
Danny turned away blocking out he rest of the conversation. On instinct he wanted to investigate these so called "ghosts".
Danny sighed deeply. There was nothing he could do without his powers. It reminded him of the time he gave them up willingly.
Except now he felt like a powerless coward. Danny started writing. Those ghosts were most likely an urban legend and if not, well some other hero could handle it.
"Hey!" Danny groaned internally before turning.
"Whoa, that's quite a bruise man" Dick said.
"Yeah, I know" Danny said taking another sip of coffee.
"What happened?" Asked the girl that had been at the lunch table.
Danny hesitated.
"Was it Mark, he's seriously getting out of control!" Dick said clenching his fist.
"Yeah, but- he's not here today" Danny said as he glanced around.
"So what? He's probably just skipping" the girl retorted.
"I- nothing, it's nothing" Danny said dismissively.
Dick raised an eyebrow. Danny was so withdrawn and secretive.
"Man, the last time he tried to mess with Dick he got knocked flat on his ass" Wally said proudly.
Danny perked up at this.
"You know how to fight?" Danny asked.
"Yeah, I was heavy into training and being fit, I'm more relaxed now" Dick said slightly embarrassed.
"That's perfect!" Danny exclaimed his mind racing.
If he could improve his physic than he could be ready when he got his powers back.
"Could you help me?" Danny asked, though he immediately regretted it.
"I can-"
"Sorry, never mind. That was stupid" Danny grumbled mad at himself.
"No, wait I- want to" Dick finished though Danny was already gone.
The day went by torturously slow. Danny left school, went to his apartment and then went for a walk.
He had left a note for Jazz letting her know he wouldn't be around.
Danny kept thinking about his day. How stupid could he be?!
When Danny looked up he realized he had gone too far. Danny felt like screaming in frustration.
It was getting darker too. Danny looked around when an idea hit him. If he used building tops he could probably find his way back.
