Danny packed the bags into Bruce's black car reluctantly. He didn't know much about Bruce, except that he had saved him and all the things he had heard.
Bruce was projected as a single billionaire who took in wards for short periods of time. Danny hadn't thought he would be a ward, but he had little say in the matter.
It was there or the streets. The landlord would definitely call the cops if he tried to go back.
So he settled In to Bruce's for the night.
"I have a room all prepared for you Young Master Daniel"
Danny cringed.
"Oh, um, thank you..."
"Alfred Pennyworths"
"Mr.pennyworth"
Alfred chuckled.
"You can just call me Alfred"
Danny nodded.
"If you don't mind, I prefer Danny"
Alfred nodded and gave Danny a warm smile.
"Of course young Master Danny"
Danny smiled, he felt so comfortable around the sweet old butler.
Danny laid on the bed and couldn't resist the call of sleep. The next day he woke up to a light knocking at his door.
"Oh, Alfred" Danny said as he opened the door.
"I have prepared breakfast before you go to school"
Danny nodded and got dressed before going down stairs.
The breakfast was an omelet with peppers. Alfred handed Danny his lunch and his school bag.
"Master Bruce has offered to drive you today, he's waiting in the car"
"Oh okay. Thank you Alfred"
"Have a nice day at school young Master Danny"
Danny gave Alfred a warm smile.
"I will, thank you"
Danny slid into the black car waiting out front. When Alfred said Bruce was driving him he must've meant Bruce was riding with him.
Apparently Bruce Wayne had a chauffeur. Well, it made sense.
"My other wards have been sent ahead. You can meet them later if your comfortable with it"
Danny flet a surge of guilt.
"I-Im really comfortable Mr. Wayne. Im not sure how long I'll have to stay, but I promise I'll help out." Danny rambled.
He shut up as soon as he caught sight of the warm understanding smile Bruce was giving him.
As Bruce listened to the kid, he realized more amd more just what kind of person Danny was.
Of course he would tell his other wards behave and be careful. There was a chance Danny wouldn't be staying forever, not that Bruce would mind if he did.
Danny thanked Bruce for the ride before walking into school. Danny still has a bruise on his eye and he could feel the endless stares.
Danny was called into the principals office before he even made it to his first class.
"Daniel, as you know we had set conditions for your scholarship. One being that you stay out of trouble"
He gestured towards Danny's bruise as if it were evidence of wrong doing.
"That's was the complete opposite of what you've done. So I'm regretful to inform you that we can no longer support your scholarship."
Danny felt like the world was shifting out from under him. That's scholarship had been the first thing to validate him.
