As they continued to chat about various topics, Izuku couldn't help but steer the conversation towards a subject that had been on his mind. He looked at Momo with genuine curiosity in his eyes.
"So, Momo, what do you think about those vigilantes everyone's been talking about?" he asked, trying to gauge her opinion.
Momo paused for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "Well... It's a complex situation," she began. "On one hand, they're breaking the law by taking justice into their own hands."
Izuku's jaw clenched slightly but he waited for her to continue.
"But on the other hand, they've managed to do what some heroes couldn't—put an end to dangerous villains and help anyone that really needs it. I can understand why some people see them as a necessary force."
Izuku listened to her response, a mixture of emotions crossing his face. He appreciated her balanced perspective, given her training to become a hero. Still, he couldn't help but feel conflicted about her answer.
Curiosity was getting the better of him, so he decided to push a little further. "If you had the chance, would you hand any of those vigilantes over to the authorities?"
Momo contemplated his question, her expression thoughtful. "I doubt I will ever be in a situation where I hold that kind of power but... It would depend on the situation," she finally replied. "If they've committed villainous crimes and put innocent lives in danger, then yes, I believe they should face the consequences. But I'd also hope that the legal system could take into account the circumstances that led them to this path."
The pair began to eat and drink in a somewhat comfortable silence. When Momo finished her drink, she asked him another question.
She leaned in a little as she asked, "Izuku, what do you aspire to do? Have you ever thought about becoming a hero or joining the general studies course at UA?"
He nearly choked on his croissant at that question.
"God forbid..." he thought to himself.
He appreciated her curiosity but knew he couldn't reveal the truth about his life as Embervenin, one of the feared vigilantes. "Well," he began with a small smile, "I've found my own path, and I'm content with where I am right now. While I... uh, respect those who aim to be heroes, it's not something I see for myself."
Momo nodded, accepting his response. She could sense there was more to his answer, but she didn't press further. Instead, she changed the topic, wanting to enjoy their time together without delving too deeply into personal matters.
Meanwhile...
Eri sighed as she turned off the TV. Her favourite show was over, and she couldn't find anything else to watch.
She hopped off the sofa and went to look for her uncle. It wasn't long before she found him in his room on his laptop. She peeked through his door and called him before entering.
"Uncle Ty?"
"Hey Eri, you alright?" he asked as he gestured for her to come over.
She walked over and hopped onto his bed. "Can we... can we go to a park?"
He frowned slightly. "But you have a play set in the garden, Eri."
Eri huffed and crossed her arms, "But I want something different." she whined.
"Eri..."
"Please. You said we would go one day when I asked last time."
'Damn, I did, didn't I?' he had not expected her to remember that.
"Pleeeeeeease!" she did that thing with her eyes that made it nearly impossible to resist.
After letting out a long and deep sigh, he nodded. "Fine. we'll go. But only for a little bit. I still have some other things to do here."
Eri's eyes lit up with excitement as she heard Tyrell's response. Her smile was infectious as she jumped up, clapping her hands. "Yay! Thank you, Uncle Tyrell!"
Tyrell chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Alright, alright, you got me. Let's get ready and head to the park for a treat."
Eri rushed to grab her jacket and shoes while Tyrell prepared to take her to the nearby park.
An hour later...
As the conversation between Momo and Izuku drew to a close, the inevitable moment of parting had arrived. Both of them wished they could stay longer, but responsibilities called.
Momo took a step closer to Izuku and embraced him in a warm, heartfelt hug. She couldn't help but smile, her eyes expressing gratitude for the time they had spent together. Then, she gently planted a kiss on his cheek.
Izuku's cheeks flushed slightly from the unexpected gesture, but he appreciated the sentiment. "Thank you for meeting with me, Momo," he said sincerely. "I hope we can do this again sometime."
Momo nodded, her expression soft. "I'd like that," she replied, her eyes locked onto his for a moment longer before she reluctantly pulled away.
With a final wave and a smile, Momo turned and walked away, leaving Izuku with a mix of emotions and thoughts as he watched her leave.
As Izuku walked along the quiet streets, his thoughts filled with the pleasant encounter with Momo, his phone suddenly rang, jolting him from his reverie. He checked the caller ID and saw that Tyrell was calling. He quickly answered, but the background noise and the urgency in Tyrell's voice made his heart skip a beat.
"Tyrell, what's going on?" Izuku asked, his voice tense. "Are you... are you flying?"
Tyrell's voice came through in a rush, filled with panic and anger. "Izuku, it's Eri! She's been taken!"
