I sat in the passenger seat of John's car, watching for familiar faces coming out of the airport. I was a bit nervous since I had never met Matt or Jaren before. What if they didn't like me in person?
"You throw up in my car, Imma make you clean the whole thing top to bottom." John said.
"Why would I throw up?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You look like you're about to lose your breakfast. Matt and Smii7y aren't that scary. They're Canadian. " John chuckled.
"That's racist. I don't know what's wrong with me." I said with a sigh.
"I do." John said confidently. I looked at him for him to continue, "You're short." I deadpanned before pushing him lightly in the shoulder.
"I'm not that short." I retaliated with a grin.
"Okay, okay. Whatever you say. Keep an eye out for them though." John said while another wave of people exited the airport. I watched the people find cars or taxis to leave the airport until I noticed two guys standing on the curb who looked familiar.
"There they are." I said. John got out of the car and waved them down. I got out to greet them as they approached.
"How was the flight?" John asked once Jaren and Matt approached.
"Long and smelt like smoke the whole time." Matt answered. John and Jaren hugged before Matt and John hugged. I was still standing at the door of the car, a little unsure of what to do.
Jaren's eyes then landed on me, "Hey Lea. Good to see you in person." He said with a smile. As much as I knew Jaren, I had never noticed the dimple on his left cheek and his hazel green eyes. His hair was dark brown and curled in front of his eyes. Pictures never did him a justice compared to in person.
I smiled, "Same. You're shorter than I thought."
"You're one to talk. Com're." He said and gave me a hug. I never expected to hug my online best friend but it was great to actually meet him.
"Am I gonna get to say hi or are you just going to hog her?" Matt asked.
"Yes." Jaren answered unhelpfully. He let go so I could say hi to Matt. Matt was the same height as Jaren. His eyes were a bright blue with a light brown around his pupils. His hair was cut short and light blond.
"It's good to see you, Matt." I said as I hugged him.
"Yeah. Glad this place isn't on fire either." Matt said with a laugh.
"Well, you guys seem to have brought it with you. You smell like you guys just walked through a bonfire." John smiled.
"Kind of just did." Jaren responded.
"We can stop by the store to get some new clothes before going home." I offered.
"Of course. That's a perfect excuse for you to go shopping, Lea." John said.
"Duh. Let's go." I got into the passenger seat. Matt and Jaren got in the back and Matt began to tell us what happened at the border.
"There was only one gate open so we had to wait in line which almost took an hour." Matt said.
"The funny part was that they wouldn't let this one lady in front of us go because she didn't have a passport." Jaren added.
"Oh yeah. She thought she had special privileges to just drive through into the states." Matt giggled, "That was a premium Karen show."
Jaren chuckled, "Karen Plus. Anyway, they wanted her to turn around and head back into Toronto but she made a break for it and sped past the gate."
"Oh shit. That wasn't very bright." John said.
