"That should be the last box for that room." I said as I placed a large box on top of another one.
"John's room was a mess." Jaren added.
I laughed, "He is an artist after all. I have a cleaner coming over tomorrow, at the same time as the movers, to clean up the house. Hopefully, they can get the paint off the floor."
"We just have the two guest rooms and kitchen left, right?" Jaren asked.
I nodded, "The guest bathroom too but that shouldn't take long." Jaren had taken off the bandage on his chin and neck. It had been four days since my birthday and it was healing well. The only sad part was that it was starting to scar. He was going to be permanently scarred from that night which I didn't feel great about.
"I'll start in the bedrooms then if you wanna get to the bathroom real quick." He jabbed his thumb behind him at the guest bedrooms.
"Sure." I pulled my hair back into a ponytail before starting in the bathroom. I made a box and started to fill it up with the things that were in the cabinets. Jaren and I got a lot done quickly. We had the living room and the gaming setups packed up on the first day after Matt and John left. Nelson and Chris came over yesterday and helped move the furniture near the front door. I also made them pack a bit since they didn't want to leave.
I taped up the box and wrote "bathroom" on top of it in permanent marker. I placed it in the living room with the other boxes. The computer monitors were with the TV, wrapped tightly in bubble wrap. I was scared that the movers would break them so they were triple wrapped.
I went to the guest bedroom Jaren was in, "After these two rooms, we can order food cause I'm starving." He was cleaning out a bookshelf full of dusty books we never touched. I just liked them because of the aesthetic.
Jaren smiled, "I'm down. We got a lot of shit done today."
I unplugged a lamp and wound the cord around the stand before putting it in a box. "Yup. We should be able to finish by tonight or before the movers get here tomorrow." I agreed.
"Good. I'm done packing." He sighed.
"We still have to pack your place." I said.
"Ugh! Fuck. I forgot I have a house too." Jaren groaned. I laughed as I started to fold the sheets on the bed. We packed up the two rooms quickly and we ordered some food.
"What time is our flight tomorrow?" Jaren asked. He placed a box on the floor by the couch.
"5. We should be out by then. My landlord said to just leave the keys on the counter." I explained, "This seems so unreal. Moving to Canada. Living with you guys in a fucking mansion." I leaned back on the counter and took out my ponytail.
Jaren came up to me as he chuckled, "I know how you feel. You're not going to be able to get rid of me now if you get mad at me." He placed his hands on my waist.
"Then just don't make me mad, Smotters." I smiled. My eyes landed on the forming scar on his jaw. My hand went up to the side of his face but he suddenly flinched away from my fingers.
His face of confusion matched my own. He took my hand I pulled away in his own. "Sorry. I don't know what that was." He spoke softly. He pressed my hand to his cheek.
"I guess we both have things to work through now, huh?" I asked.
He smiled slightly, "I guess so." I wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer. My insides started to do flips as we came closer. I leaned up to him while he started to lean down. I had never kissed someone before but my body seemed to know what it was doing. A knock at the door made us both jump apart.
