We walked up the stairs to Jaren's apartment. It was almost midnight and it felt like 2 to us since we were still on Texas time. Jaren led me inside as I tried not to fall asleep while standing. "Come on, sleepy head." He said softly before leading me to his room. We left the bags in the living room. I crawled into bed while Jaren turned off the lights. I was half asleep when he crawled in next to me. I passed out in his arms.
The next morning, I was a little startled. I had forgotten that I had fallen asleep at Jaren's place so when I woke up, I was very confused. I sat up quickly while my brain tried to remember where I was. "Woah. You alright?" Jaren asked since I had woken him up when I moved.
"Oh yeah. Sorry. I forgot we were in Canada." My eyes widened, "We are in Canada!" I jumped up and ran to the window to look outside. Jaren was laughing while I looked around. "Wow. Doesn't look any different from America." I said.
"Here it is not. It is just like every other city but it is cooler when we drive out into the mountains. The lakes are pretty too." He said after his wheeze. He got up and stretched, "Imma take a shower. We can go get food since I don't think anything here is good anymore. I gotta go get Octavia too today."
My face lit up, "Okay. I'm excited to meet her." Jaren left the bedroom while I explored. It was a nice apartment. Had a balcony, an office, and a decent-sized kitchen. I had forgotten to plug in my phone last night so it was dead. I found an outlet and plugged it in. Once it turned on, I saw I had missed calls from John.
I called him back. "What the fuck, Lea?!" John shouted in my ear when he answered.
"Ow." I responded. I heard Matt laughing in the background.
"We thought you got nine-elevened or something." John said.
"No. We didn't crash. My phone just died and I forgot to plug it in since I got home at dark o'clock." I giggled.
"Where's Smii7y?" He asked.
"Showering." I responded.
"Why are you not in there with him?!" John shouted again. I heard Matt crack up again.
"John. It's too early for your weirdness. Is there a reason you wanted to call me?" I asked.
"Yeah. To make sure you are not dead and to ask, how many times you guys did the deed." He said with an evil laugh.
"Okay. Bye, John." I grimaced and hung up on him. I sighed and looked for the brush in my bag. I brushed out my hair and went to the balcony. It still smelled smoky outside but there wasn't a haze.
"Y'know, I think one of the rooms has a balcony in the new house." Jaren said from the screen door. His hair was wet. He wore a white T-shirt with a black button shirt over it and black jeans.
"Sweet. I call dibs." I smiled.
"Only if you pay more." He said.
"Aww." I pouted.
"You ready to go get food?" He asked.
"No. I'm still in the same clothes as yesterday." I responded.
"What were you doing while I was taking a shower?" He laughed.
"Talking to John and then I got distracted." I said while walking past him and to my bag.
"What did John have to say?" He asked. I blushed a bit from John's comment. I was glad he couldn't see me.
"Johny things." I said, "He was mad my phone died and I missed his calls." I went into the bathroom to change. Once I made sure I was ready for my first day as a Canadian, I left. Just a pair of dark blue jeans and a white tank top. Jaren looked me up and down as I put my dirty clothes in my bag from the couch.
