Chapter 12 : King of diamonds

Chishiya awoke to the sounds of bags rustling from outside the tent. He stepped outside and shielded his face from the sun, judging by the position he assumed it was nearly 10 o'clock, he was met with the sight of Kuina and last boss preparing the little food they found earlier. "Morning Chishiya" Kuina greeted. "Good morning you 2. I'm guessing Niragi left?" he responded. Last boss nodded and started digging into his portion of food. Truth was that Last Boss rarely ate after the beach fire in the borderlands so this was the first meal he was having in a while, Kuina barely slept that night for reasons she didn't want to discuss and Niragi left because to go find some people to fuck up even more, he'd probably die to the king of spades along the way though. So it seemed that Chishiya was the only one that had a good night, or that's what they thought at least. Chishiya decided to skip food and left his for the others to split. Most of the night he was trying to think of a game for them all to participate in but he couldn't think of any besides the Queen of clubs but he didn't know how many people it required and it was on the other side of Shibuya. "So what's our plan Chishy?" Kuina said as she rested her head on his lap ever so slightly hoping for a hug, she was still in a lot of pain from the Queen of spades. Chishiya put his hand of her head and slowly started stroking her hair. "First I'm going to find some medical equipment for you. Then it's left to chance." Chishiya responded. "Do you know how to use medical needles and stitches and that type of stuff?" Kuina asked. All Chishiya could do was smack himself internally. "I'm certain I've told you I used to be a medical student" Chishiya said as he inspected Kuina's face and saw that he was right, he just smiled, gently moved her head out of the way and got up. I'll head out now, I know this area quite well and there's a medical station nearby. I'll be back soon" With that Chishiya left the campsite and made his way to the place he mentioned.

Within a few hours Chishiya had returned, fully disinfected Kuina's vital wounds and had her patched up well, the only thing left for the 3 of them was what game they were going after next. Surprisingly none of the diamonds cards had been completed yet and that gave Chishiya an idea. "I'm going to do a game alone, you 2 are welcome to come along if you want to know my fate" Chishiya announced, this had been on his mind for most of the night and now he was doing it. It was normal for Chishiya to make claims like this but this just gave off a different atmosphere, it was as if the man who had the title of unshakable during his stay at the beach was actually scared. Even when the face cards started he was happy, something about his tone though also gave off his smugness, he knew he'd have to do this because he was probably one of the smartest people in the borderlands alongside Arisu, it seemed like he already knew the outcome of the game before he even knew the rules. "Well I can assume it's not clubs if you're doing it alone and you're not the most athletic. You're smart and can easily manipulate, so judging by that I'd assume you're going for a diamond or hearts game. However the only hearts game left is the queen of hearts and we're yet to see that so you must be going for a diamonds game. Am I right?" Last boss said, his reasoning wasn't the best but it would suffice, he seemed more rational after he left the beach. Chishiya nodded, "I'm setting out now so only come if you feel ready for it. I'm going for the king of diamonds, I have a hunch that one of my theories will be proven." Chishiya responded. He didn't really need to take anything because there wouldn't be anything like fighting but he was bringing his taser just in case. Once he got his things packed up and left the tent he noticed that Kuina and Last boss seemed ready to go with him. "I think we can learn from Kuina that no one should go alone" Last boss said. That somehow put a smile on Chishiya's face, it was small but noticeable. "Alright, let's get going" Chishiya said. Just like that, the campsite had been abandoned and the three of them had left for Shibuya's supreme Court. Home of the king of diamonds.

One of the only buildings left in perfect shape, The supreme Court. At the front was a holographic sign that read 1 slot remaining. "Well this is it" Chishiya said as he handed over a bag to Kuina that contained most of his belongings. "Good luck Chishiya" Kuina said as she wrapped her arms around him for a short while then let go after he pushed her off. Last boss said his goodbyes and ushered Chishiya into the building. "Ms Hikari. I'm sorry to say but Shuntaro is going to die in there. The king of diamonds always wanted a fair game and this one I know will certainly be hard to live through and only allow one survivor. However, we can see how it will turn out right as everything unfolds if you want to witness a perfect game" Samura announced to Kuina as he pointed to a side entrance of the building. "If you knew he'd die here why didn't you tell him? And you know who the king of diamonds is? How? I'm not following any of this!" Kuina exclaimed as she paced around in circles trying to get an answer to any of her questions but last boss remained silent. Both of them entered the hallway last boss pointed at, it was perfect darkness with the only thing in there being 5 spots to stand on with a button in front of them. Kuina looked towards Last boss and they both nodded to each other and pressed the buttons. Suddenly they were both in glass cases and being taken up to a viewing gallery that'd be invisible to the contestants. Kuina started looking around the contestants but saw 1 seat empty despite the fact the registration was full. That's when her view was blocked by a screen coming on and showing someone she vaguely remembered. keiichi Kuzuryu's only living relative in the borderlands, Agepy Kuzuryu, his cousin. "Greetings to the both of you. I was hoping for more of an audience but this shall suffice. Welcome to the Jack of diamonds. The aim of this game is simple. After this video call is gone you'll be given an interactive screen which will allow you to survive. On that screen you'll you'll given 5 options, one for each contestant. You're job is to guess who will win the current round. Guess incorrectly then you'll be sprayed with a small amount of sulfuric acid. Not enough to kill you but enough to leave a lot of damage if it happens in mass amounts. If you want to keep your body looking normal then I suggest keeping yo wrong answers under 4. Once the king of diamonds begins you'll also hear the rules of their game aswell so you know how you're playing. Good luck." The video disappeared and, just like she said, an interactive screen replaced the front glass pane so they wouldn't be able to see the players. Kuina looked around confused, the other windows had been blacked out with only 4 people shown in front of her, she couldn't see last boss, Chishiya or anything really. All she knew is this game was going to be hard, that's when an extra person showed up on the screen. "Wait, it can't be, it was strange that she was part of this but I thought that was just coincidence. I guess this is what Last boss meant though. Ok, I'll do my best."
