Amelia has been good friends with James since she was married to her ex husband Roman and hid all the abuse that she experienced. Eventually, when Amelia fell pregnant unexpectedly with Emery (by being raped) Amelia didn't tell Roman. Amalia planned an escape plan with James and she told James the whole truth from being raped to being pregnant with her daughter now. James helped her escape with her 2 sons who killed their father because he was about to rape Amalia an hour before their escape and Luciano being the eldest son had enough of all the crap he's been seeing and experiencing and shot his father at the age of 10. He had no regrets or sadness of killing his father, till this day his content to have removed such an evil and cruel man who was their sperm doner.

They came to James r house who treated Luciano and Adriano like his own sons which he never had and he taught them everything about growing up as a young man to having their first drink ever. Amalia always promised to tell Emery the truth about her life when she's older but Emery found out before when she found her mamas diary and Emery being a bookworm was very smart for her age and found out everything. She told her mama about how she knows about everything and her mama was disappointed and worried that Emery would be angry. But, Emery didn't care and she said "he is a monster and mine and bubbas papa is James Grayson and we are his and your babies".
Emery sleeps between her parents James and Amalia because she feels safe and her mama has attachment issues with her daughter and Emery is treated like a little baby by her parents. James still accompanies Emery in the bathroom when she has a bubble bath because this was James favourite duty which Emery always loved. James used to always make bathtime fun for Emery as a kid as she despised baths. James has always treated Emery l like a baby as he became her father before she was born and vowed to her when she was in her mothers stomach that he will take over and try and be the best father ever to her and her 2 brothers.
