"So? How's it going with you?"Jennie laughs nervously and take a sip.
"I'm doing great! I just graduated form college." She said with a proud smile.
"Oh, that's fabulous. You know, school just wasn't for me. But I'm so glad it's working for you."
"It's really was an incredible experience studying among the top minds of the nation at prestigious school."
"Well! Look who's moving up in the world. I'm so happy for you!" Jisoo looks thoroughly impressed.
"Thank you!"
"Of course. Now, what else is new?"
"Well... I've been having a challenging time."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I wast expecting things were going to be this hard when I got here. Everything seems so hopeful." "I guess reality is setting in..." "I was rejected at my first job interview. But, I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities for me." "Soon I'll be able to pick and choose which of the best jobs I want."
"That's the spirit! Why do you need a job now anyway ? I thought parents were going to support you for a little while,"
"They changed their minds, I believe, after taking with their psychologist friends. They think they are encouraging me to be more resilient be completely cutting me off financially."
"Ouch! That's harsh." Jisoo say lightly surprised.
"Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what my next steps are..." "but I'm confident I'll figure it out."
"Oh, I know what you next step is..." jisoo has a glimmer in her eye, like she's up to something - but Jennie can't put her finger on it.
"Oh? What's up?" She asked.
"Look behind you. Discreetly. There's a handsome guy who's staring at you from the moment we entered the shop."
Jennie slowly turn around to take a look at the person, and indeed, there is a man shooting her a flirtatious look.
"But what does this have to do with anything, jisoo?"
"Find a rich guy. It's so much easier and faster than getting a job and supporting yourself."
"I don't know Jisoo. Maybe this thing is just not for me." She look at her friend Turing around.
"Oh, c'mon. Get off your high horse and just have a little fun with a sexy rich man. What's the harm?"
"It's just not the right time jisoo. I have so much going on in my life right now. I need some stability first."
"Fine. Suit yourself. But look! There's another one." This time jisoo was also shock and shouted in a whisper at her. "Just look at him. He's tall. Dark and handsome. Just like in the movies."
Jennie twist around to look at jisoo's 'prey' and indeed, he is tall, dark and handsome. But he's just an another guy to her.
"Okay you can stop this game, jisoo, I'm not interested." She sip her coffee not interested in jisoo's talk.
"Oh, Hun. You really need to spend more time getting to know people here in the city. The girl I remember was a social butterfly! What happens to you?"
"I'm generally tired of people now, I guess?" They both chuckle right as a third contender walks in the shop and catches jisoo's eyes.
"Oh! But look at this one!" She voice was all Surprised and shocked looking at the man.
"Jisoo!" Jennie glare at her.
"No, no this one you have to see. You're gonna like this one - I can tell."
"Well, might as well indulge in her little game."
"Okay, tell me about him." She said without Turing around.
"He's the sexiest guy I've ever seen and that's means a lot coming from me."
"I don't deny it."
"I bet he's one of those tremendously rich IT guys. I can see it in the way he walks!"
"The way he walks!?" Jennie was about to turn around but stop by jisoo's words.
"Don't turn around just yet... he's looking at us. Oh my, he's coming over!"
Jennie rooks her eyes at jisoo, who's flashing her brightest smile at the person behind her.
"Hi, there! I'm Kim Jisoo. And this is my friend, Jennie." Jisoo stood up to bow at him and greet him.
Jennie also turn to greet the person behind her, only to meet the eyes with the one and only Jeon Jung Kook.
"Of course" she rolled her eyes at him.
"Pleasures to meet you, Jisoo and you, Jennie." His eyes glaze right over Jennie, acknowledging her presence without really connecting. He's acting as if they both don't know each other. She blink, dumbfounded by his act.
"Really, he's going to pretend like he doesn't know me?" Jennie thought.
"Forgive me for saying this, but you are tremendously gorgeous!" Jisoo says as she look at his handsome personality.
Jisoo leans towards Jennie and whispers. "I wonder if he has a girlfriend?"
Jung kook begins laughing; He's overheard Jisoo. "I don't have a girlfriend, if that's what you're wondering. But thank you.. I think you are both gorgeous women." He says with a beautiful smile on his face looking at them.
"Ugh! He's definitely enjoying this attention, doesn't he?"
Jung kook grins. Jisoo leans towards Jennie once more and whispers. " Jennie! This guy Jung kook is definitely hooked on you! I saw him giving you a once-over that turns into a twice- and a thrice-over!"
"Sure, Jisoo. He likes." Jennie roll her eyes and jisoo seems all the more exasperated with her.
"I'm not joking around. I think he really digs you!"
"I hope not ... things will get complicated."
Their conversation was interrupted by Jung kook handing both cocktails. As he thanks the server, he goes to pull out his credit cards.. but then his hand abruptly stops at his pocket, and he swallows hard.
"I, uh, can't remember where I put my credit cards," jungkook says.
"They are in your inner pocket." Jennie says. The retort comes out almost automatically, which prompts the two of them to exchange a surprised look. Jisoo glances between the two, confusion plastered on her face.
" ugh-oh, me and my big mouth... jisoo will I sit on getting to the bottom of this."
"Oh.. here they are . Silly me." Jung kook take out the credit cards from his inner pocket.
"Jennie, how did you know they were there?" Confusion and surprise was all over her face.
"It was easy, Jisoo. That's where any civilised person would keep their credit cards."
"Oh, that's true, huh? You have me completely baffled. Is he your boyfriend?"
"No! No, Jisoo . We just share an apartment together."
"What? Why didn't you say so? So you're living together now.. he's practically like your husband!" The shock on jisoo face says everything.
"Whoa, clam down, Jisoo." Jennie turn to look at Jung kook, trying to read his expressions. He seems amused by all this. There's a wicked glint in his eyes before he says the next line...
"I thought you wanted to kelp this thing between us, Hm, discreet. I told you it's nothing to be ashamed about. People here do this all the time..." he pauses for a few seconds, before giving a knowing look at Jisoo and speaking in a slightly hushed voice.
"You know, the together-but-not-dating thing..."
Jisoo's eyes widen in disbelief. Yet Jennie throw Jung kook a dirty look.
"What the heck does he think he's doing?"
