ACUMA MAAKE KANCUBE
--------------------------------

It's only been 8 hours and I already miss him. Going to sleep without his touch is starting to be impossible. Worst part is, our next meet up is Friday. It's still Wednesday.

"Acuma!" I hear one of our helpers scream from the staircase.

"Ndiyeza Ausi!" I say from the bathroom in my bedroom.
I quickly fix my high-pony, brush over my edges them I rush out switching off the LED, ring light and bedroom lights in my room.

The electricity bill is probably your allowance for the whole year. Totalled

What, a girl needs good lighting.

I get downstairs and my dad is sitting at the top of the table.

"Morning Tata." I take a seat next to him. "Seke hambile umama?"

"Ewe kodwa uzo buya namhlanj ebusuku."
He says helping himself to the French toast in front of him.
I help myself to the muesli and chocolate chip muffin.

"You broke curfew last night."
I freeze while getting the yogurt and honey, in front of me.

I quickly think of a lame excuse.
"Oh yah, about that. I haddd— some future head-girl duties to fulfill. At school. After school. Yeah."

Omg

"Okay, but the car that dropped you off last night wasn't one of the drivers cars right?"

"Yeah, definitely." I reply awkwardly.

"So mokuyaka bani lamoto endibone izolo?"

"yiBolt Tata. Hayibo." I sats starting to get irritated at his irrelevant interrogation.

"Acumalethu, ndim dala for lento oy yenzayo. I know what I saw last night. You sneaking into the house during a school night, getting out of GTI's. Where have I failed you mntanam. I don't know you anymore."

"But the thing is you never knew me so why bother now?" I say and I take a spoonful of muesli into my mouth.
The tension fills the high-ceiling of the dining area.
The rest of breakfast I stay quiet and so did my father. We've never gone through breakfast without a convo about politics or new soapies.

Have I truly failed him?

As I'm left wondering, my driver hoots at the gate and I grab my lunch and a chocolate muffin.
As I was about to walk out of the dining room, my dad says.

"Have a good day at school Lethu."
I turn around to look at him.

So focused on his tablet, I quickly run up to him like old times and I hug him, then give him a kiss on his cheek. His beard poking my chin.

"Enkosi Tata nawe." I say sprinting out the door before I could capture his reaction.

***********
(English - second period)

"You guys did WHAT!?" Muni shouts bringing attention to us.
It's English and our teacher is absent, so we were told to go to the school library for subs.

"Shh, okay. Now it's not like we fucked but it was a very intense, exciting experience." I say lowly not wanting the girl in front of us to hear me.

"Acumalethu, you naughty little girl."

"Yeah, I know!"
