LUYOLO MADLINGOZI
---------------------------

I had just finished showering and I'm pretty sure the guests had started to arrive. I could hear voice downstairs and the twins talking to a baby.

I lock my room and I moisturize my skin.
I wear a grey Puma tracksuit, with my white airforces.

I brush my hair neatly and I take my phone out of the charger.

I see a text from Cuma and it's a picture. I click on it and it's a picture of the tik tok video we did together. I look at circle around the like button and it had 7.9k likes, 3k shares and 1.2 million views!!!
I close the picture and I text her...

L: Lol, we should definitely make more videos together.

Just after I sent it to her, I hear a knock on the door.
I unlock the door and my mom's standing there dressed up and looking really pretty.

"Thank goodness you're finally done. Come, a few of my friends from Cape Town want to see you." she says getting super excited.

"Why?"

"They just want to see you. Come on Luyolo u ngabi njalo, after greeting them, you can stay in your room for THE WHOLE DAY, okay?"

-don't be like that

I exhale and I walk out of my room. I follow my mom downstairs and the smell of oxtail, steamed bread, sweet corn and samp fills the kitchen.

One thing about Nambita Dambuza Madlingozi, she knows her stuff when it comes to traditional Xhosa food.

We walk through the sliding door that opens to the balcony that was really wide and spacious. It's covered with fake grass to give it a outdoors feel and a long couch placed again the walls, outdoor dinner tables are placed in the middle. On each side of the rooftop patio, there were 2 chairs hanging from a drilled in rod, and a fireplace in the left corner.

It's our rooftop backyard, if that's a thing.

I look around and I see alot of familiar faces. Some from the social media, other were family friends and some family members.

We approach a group of women who were sitting on the couch drinking champagne.

"Nanku ke, ifirst born yam." my mom says introducing me to a few of her friends from Cape Town. I only remembered one of the ladies there, the rest I had completly forgotten.

-here he is, my first born.

"Wow akase mdala. Ndaqhibela ese na 7."
I smile awkwardly not knowing what to say.

-he's so grown. The last time I saw him he was 7.

"Nawe uyabona sekemdala ngoku, sekezolwaluka kulu nyakaozayo."

-As you can see he's all grown up no, he's almost going to be initiated.

I hate it whenever she mentions me going to initiation in the next 12 months. I wasn't really looking forward to it.

"Ndiya vuya ukunibona kodwa I have to get back to studying." I say politely excusing myself.

-It's a pleasure meeting you but...
