"I got you Marcus!" Jazlyn shouted as she tagged her 6-year-old brother. She was hardly ever able to tag him, so this was exciting for her. "I win!"
Marcus smiled and said, "Let's play again!"
"Ok!" Jazlyn agreed. She and their little 4-year-old brother Andrew got ready to run. At the shout of ten, they ran with Marcus chasing them. The young 8-year-old girl ran as fast as she could, but her brother was gaining on her. Jazlyn felt for that something that had always been there. She felt it surround her and penetrate her. She was one with it.
Jazlyn didn't know what it was, but she knew what it could do. Marcus nearly tagged her when she made an impossibly high jump into the air and landed on the shed. Her brother looked at her with a surprised expression and then with a knowing smile did the same thing. Then it became a dodge game, but eventually Marcus tagged her.
"That was so awesome." Jazlyn said, breathless but smiling.
"Yeah, it was." Marcus said. They jumped down the shed only to find that Andrew had made it to the safety spot while Marcus was preoccupied with his sister.
Jazlyn laughed. "Looks like you didn't actually win, Mark."
"I'll win next time." he said confidently. The three siblings sat down on some chairs and rested from their game. Suddenly, Jazlyn felt something. Something was calling her, telling her to go somewhere. She got up and started walking towards the call.
"Where are you going?" Andrew asked curiously.
"Something is calling me." Jazlyn said. Marcus looked at Andrew and they got up and followed her. She didn't go that far; she went to the ruins of Maz Kanata's old castle. Jazlyn went up to a piece of rubble and stopped. She pushed it away and in the place where it used to be was a small pouch. She turned the pouch upside down and out of it dropped a glowing crystal.
"Look what I found!" She exclaimed. Her brothers ran up to her and saw the crystal.
"Wow, cool!" Marcus said.
"What is it?" Andrew asked.
"I don't know, but this crystal called to me. I think it's mine." Jazlyn said thoughtfully. "I'm going to show Mom and Dad. Maybe they know what this is."
They indeed knew what it was. Jazlyn had found a Kyber Crystal. She learned that it was used to make lightsabers, and since she found one that meant she was Force Sensitive. The next day she was taken to the Jedi Temple on Yavin-4. She was met outside by an older looking Jedi wearing the traditional robes of the order.
"Hello. Welcome to the Jedi Temple." The Jedi said, "I'm Master Luke Skywalker and I'll be teaching you. What's your name?"
"I'm Jazlyn. Jazlyn Reyla." Jazlyn said. Luke nodded and smiled at her.
"Umm...Master Luke, I found this glowing crystal. What am I supposed to do with it?" Jazlyn asked, holding out the Kyber Crystal. Luke looked a bit surprised.
"That is a Kyber Crystal. Where did you find it?"
"I found it back at home in the ruins of an old building. It called to me."
Luke nodded in understanding.
"When you are ready, you will use that crystal to make your own lightsaber."
"Oh cool!"
"Now come. Let me show you to your room."
Jazlyn followed him to her room. She went inside and put down her stuff. She liked her new room. It was small but not too small, and her favorite part was that on the wall over her bed was carved the Jedi symbol. In it were symbols beautifully and intricately designed. Then Luke took her on a tour of the temple. Jazlyn was amazed by everything she saw. The paintings, the carvings, everything. By the time she was introduced to everything, it was nighttime. Jazlyn went to her room but before she went in, she saw someone else in the shadows.
"Hey there." the person said. The person came to the light and Jazlyn saw that it was a girl with very wavy light brown hair and slanted, piercing, golden amber eyes that almost seemed to glow. She was wearing Jedi clothes but unlike everyone else Jazlyn met, the girl was wearing a dark green tunic and her tabards were made of black leather. She seemed a bit older than Jazlyn.
"I'm Kera. What's your name?" the girl asked.
"I'm Jazlyn." Jazlyn responded. For some reason she felt like they would be good friends.
"How old are you?"
"I'm ten. What about you?"
"I'm eight." Jazlyn smiled, "Do you want to be my friend?"
Kera smiled too. "Sure! I was actually going to ask you that!" They laughed and then said goodnight. Jazlyn went to bed thinking about everything that happened that day.
