if you were the sun,
i wouldn't put on sunglasses, wear a cap, or stay under a shade
instead i'd stand in the open
and let your sunlight kiss my skin
even if it meant i could get scorched by your love's intensity

if you were the moon,
i wouldn't need lamp posts
instead i'd allow myself to surround in the darkness of the night, wandering
and let your moonlight's gentle glow guide me back home
even if it meant that i could get lost in the depths of your enigma

and if you were the rain,
i wouldn't open an umbrella, put on a raincoat, or stay in at home
instead i'd lay on the road of an empty street or dance in your downpour
and let your raindrops land on my skin
feeling like a lover's touch
even if it meant that i could drown in your embrace.
